GSXR 750 kart build began - updated Sunday 10/09/05
engine is a gsxr 750 carb'd model from a 1984 gsxr 750, not quite as powerful as the modern day 750's but should be plenty quick enough to push a little go kart along
the kart is a gearbox racing kart, with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes
this is how it looked when it was collected
everything stripped off bar the rear axle as its seized in place
chassis on axle stands ready to be cut and extended
we decided to extend it 500mm as that was the smallest distance we could get to allow the engine and exhaust to fit on the chassis twith the seat in position!
cut 3 lengths of tubing the same as the rest of the chassis, and slid them over the 3 bushes we made to make extending and keeping the kart inline as easy as possible. need another 3 bushes to continue anyway, no pics of those as yet, will sort sum out
seat rested in position
engine and seat rested in position
engine from behind with carb's on
got a bit carried away with the grinder later on and decided to just cut the rear drive shaft into a fiew pieces and remove it that way, got a spare anyway
will be making some more progress at the weekend

my mates been busy making progress with the kart
cut the bike exhaust flanges off the manifold and fitted them to engine in preparation for making the manifold (excuse him being a fookin plum and struggling with counting to 4 )
mounted the race can
also fitted the air filters and carbs
fuel pump, fuel supply isolator and gear selector
i think the isolation valve in the fuel line needs to go before the fuel pump straight after the tank, will have to make him change it

we went karting yesterday on this track here
was fantastic, twin engined karts, pretty quick they were
asked if we could bring my mates gsxr 750 kart down and track it, the answer.... YES
only things they said were wed - fri all day for 40 quid
as long as it was no more than 105dB at 2/3 revs and must have a chain guard.
roll on drifting this bad boy be plenty vids n pics of it going up on here when its running
