I have just about finalised the spec of my cam, which I have spent quite alot of time learning about and am fairly confident in the results that it should produce.
There will be alot of progress all at once soon, but I am waiting for the Engine machining at the moment, which is taking forever.

At least I got a special price for mentioning your name!!! (although they used bits from their 'box in the corner' to build it)

I am surprised there are any bits left from that box in the corner, I thought they used everything up when they built mine

Update time.
I know things haven't moved along for a while, but now I have most of the Engine Components back from the Machiners.
I spent about 2 hours masking the Cylinder Head up for painting. Its a fiddly job but never mind.
I will add more pictures tonight once the paint is on and the masking is removed.
Then its time to get the Block on an engine stand for full cleaning and painting.

.....and a few more!!!
The Cam arrived today, so the tedious process of building the head up can now begin. I should hopefully get on with this tomorrow. Along with Painting the Block.
I actually managed to get the enthusiasm to drag the car out of the garage and clean it at the weekend. The first time since Brunters in December.

Here's the Engine Block on a stand. The threads for the Head-Bolts are cleaned out thoroughly.......
The Block has been fully Cleaned and Degreased. After which it is thoroughly dried and all Oil/Water ways are blown through with a pressurised Airline. Then a coat of Black Paint is applied.....
The Underside of the engine.......
Here is it ready to be fitted up.......
Hopefully it should start taking shape leading up to the weekend.

One thing that I don't think I have mentioned, although I am pretty sure that most of you know is that the essence of this whole project is to stick as close as possible to the fundamental roots of the RS Turbo, which is the 1600CVH 8 Valve Engine.
I have tried to retain as many authentic parts as possible and to make the engine as simple and uncluttered as I can. The quest for power has meant that a few changes have been necessary along the way, but I guess I have made sacrifices too in terms of power for the sake of not treading too far off the 'line'!!
Looking forward to getting it back to Bruntingthorpe once its done!!

cvh all the way
im the same as i want to keep to a 1.6 8v CVH, but im going all steel, and not keeping the standard inlet either as ive gone for custom inlet/exhaust manifold
once its all sorted there'll be a thread made up
good luck with build Christian
