bit of an update we both absolutely love how the exhaust has bedded in really sounds bang on, went to visit my older brother whos a big old school car nut at the weekend and he was overly impressed with how good it sounded.
I have managed to drop on a bit of a bargain via a fiesta st page over on facebook, got a brand new never been fitted Wagner stage 3 intercooler for £420 which is a nice little saving on buying new
I have the car booked in again at GT Motorsport on Weds 3rd October to get the following fitted/done ( again if i had time id do quite a few of these jobs myself)

cam bucket
aet upgraded front brake set up
summit front strut brace
whiteline rear anti roll bar
summit rear lower tosion bar
powerflex rear upper spring isolators

and if he has the time fit the wagner intercooler but we will see on that one as i have the car rebooked on the dyno for Sat 6th October

And just like that Collins Performance have released the CP2 update now called CP2-S

so i have got the car booked in for Saturday to get the new upgrade done which im looking forward to

testing figures have shown the following
+6 BHP Peak
+8 LBFT Peak
And
+12 BHP from 3900-4300rpm
+15 LBFT from 3900-4300rpm

Drivability and usability has been greatly improved, power earlier, ideal for those motorway overtakes and also holds much longer into the rev range thanks to our uprated actuator and there is a noticable increase in performance.

sounds like a nice upgrade and should feel good on the road ill be surre to update on this later on

Had a job postponement on Friday so actually had a day out and about in the car in the sun with the family did quite a few miles and loved every minute of it, The car really does turn heads and seems to get quite a bit of attention which is something i really didnt expect as they are a pretty common sight tbh.

This is where we had stopped off at a little canalside pub and it was on of them where i looked back and though wow that looks really good especially as its not been polished/waxed since early august

HI guys just wanted to update on the car since we got the rear arb/rear lower torsion bar & front strut brace fitted to go with the already fitted rear strut brace.

All i can say is wow what a huge difference its made to the car it now feels really planted really does encourage you to push on alot more than on the oe set up, big thumbs up from us and for anyone whos looking at really improving the handling of your car and not wanting to lower it this is an absolute winner. Rear torque mount and quickshift to go on next and it will be spot on.

Also changed the cam bucket and had the Wagner stage 3 intercooler fitted and also the aet front brake upgrade including uprated brake lines. Brakes are of course still bedding in but getting better all the time, intercooler will obviously be doing its job and will now hold onto the power much better.

looking forward to saturdays dyno session to see what the cars putting out and check all is well etc.

today we took the car upto WGT in Middlewich to put the car on the dynapack hub dyno to see whats what. Iv always been hugely impressed by the torque in the car but i was pleasantly surprised by the final outcome. Had a fantastic drive up to there through some nice country lanes and national speed limit roads even though the weather was very wet the handling mods and rainsport 3 tyres have really transformed the car

228bhp @the fly (198whp) which is bang on the money for collins cp2 software with related hardware and the main thing was 283 lb/ft torque which is what you can really feel out on the road, makes the car a pleasure to drive as there seems to be torque from very low down.

link to youtube vid

i will upload the graph a bit later on when i get chance to scan it

I have also purchased a Vudu (aet motorsport) ported exhaust manifold and Boomba racing inlet & throttle body spacers all to give as much flow as possible and give me even more area below the graph (or thats the plan anyway). Peak figures might only go up by 5-8bhp and 10-15lbft but as you can see its already performing really well for what it is so any more gains for not a great deal of outlay will be welcome

i will of course take the car back to WGT to run it on the hub dyno again to see whats what and get an overlay of the best run from before and after these additions

Are these really that good? Thinking about buying one but I can't leave any of my cars alone, got a m8 of mine having a 1.6 forged engine built closed deck conversion going for 450hp could not imagine that sort of power in one of these.

yes imo they really are that good especially when modded right, i think ours is pretty much bang on now handles and drives amazingly and really does go well with all that torque, it will be interesting to see what the manifold and spacers add to it.

should be an absolute animal at 400+ iv seen a few at 320-340 and they really do shift

So this is the update thats been in the pipeline underwraps for a while now my mate bernie of bernies blowers has built me one of his 300+bhp hybrids for our car, he has built me my turbos since around 2008 and always been spot on, made great power and very reliable. Im not allowed to reveal whats exactly done to it right now as its still a bit of a secret due to him supplying OC Motorsports hybrids which i hear ollie made 325bhp on this turbo so it certainly does the job

Mapping will be done by my mate Mark at GT Motorsport in Stoke, his custom wrote maps are absolutely bang on and yield some great results so its in safe hands there.

Id imagine its going to be around April/May when this gets done as want get Christmas/Birthdays and new year out the way to get some money coming back in, plus also got the small matter of fitting/mapping the ecu on my RS Turbo first.

cheers pal, should go really well and i know the turbo will be bang on as bernies never let me down. Collins do take a good while with anything but im sure its down to them wanting it as safe and good as possible plus they have been doing the mk8 st stuff and updating the cp2-e so maybe they will have it ready by end of the year?

Question on these ecoboost engine the problem with the head-gasket/cylinder head loosing coolant is the problem widespread or only affects certain years, tuning these engines up to and beyond 300hp with just bolt-ons is very appealing you get a lot of car for the money.

its only on certain years although theres many out there who havent had a problem. Saying that iv been seeing many horror stories about them after the recall and the shoddy work done by the ford mechanics even down to the car running low on coolant within a week of having it back.

thats exactly it they are a great base to start from and really do respond well to tuning, great little engine imo cant wait to push ours onto the next step in the new year

It's not the cylinder head or head gasket that loses water it's the shitty plastic pipe coming from the header tanks that splits and you lose all your coolant while your driving and the head overheats and cracks which then leaks red hot oil on to the turbo and manifold and they burn very fast lol . Look for 2015 onwards if you can afford one, mines got plastic pipes but they are routed differently from the pics I've seen , also just to note there's a rubber hose which goes backwards under the engine cover which is also another problem as it rubs on the cover and cuts the hose which can also cause the same issue . Iam going to trim the engine cover out but atm I put cable insulation around the part it rubs on with electrical tape and it's working a treat but mine has rubbed so I will replace the hose soon.

hope this helps

cheers paul

Just wanted to update on the car, its been absolutely faultless not one problem apart from the wife getting 2 punctures in the same week earlier this month.

its very rare i get to drive the car but when i do it puts a huge smile on my face real good driving experience, so happy with the mods that have been carried out as they have improved on whats already a good car out the box.

plans for 2019 are to fit the parts i have (apart from turbo) then get my detailing mate around to give it a full 3 stage correction as its crying out to be done. Turbo will go on later in the year sometime, as i want to concentrate more on the other little boosted fiesta i have more if possible.

Been an absolute age since this was updated

not a great deal to update on the car is as ever running perfectly not a single problem, had its mot a few weeks ago and just needed new rear brakes so im pretty happy with that.

we are off to newquay again in june so will be doing an oil and filter change the week before we go same as last year to keep thigs nice n fresh.

Paintwork is crying out for a full correction doing on it, but for now ill do whatever i can by hand to make it look a bit more presentable then once back off our hols give rsmat (ocd productions) a shout and get him sort it out.

The power mods are on hold for a while as im sorting my RS Turbo out and have a few other things we want to do/sort beforehand

Matt for the price you cannot go wrong , I was really impressed when I took mine for a test drive I just brought it lol.
mines will be finally going in for cp5 soon , 310/320 whp and 350/360 flywheel power so it won't hang about.
the only thing that really pisses me off about the car is the window rattle when it down 2 inch .

CP5 is going to be epic, iv seen a few have already had it done and they have a feature on it in this months fast ford. They certainly spent long enough on it testing to make sure all was right and have fount that this level is where its most happy.

let me know when you have had it done and what you think of it.

I cant say iv ever heard that with the window rattle i can ask the wife if shes noticed anything.

iv actually just bought a couple of things for ours one being a GFB DV+ to replace the Turbosmart kompact dual port bov as it absolutely drives the wife insane and tbh i can see why. The other being a pair of silicone coolant hoses to replace the oe ones. I also dropped on a 2nd hand Airtec quickshift via facebook for just under half the price of new

not a massive update but yesterday a spur of the moment thing got me and the wife and a little helper outside to give the car a much needed detail, it hadnt been done for just short of a year i reckon.

products used were a mixture of auto finesse and autobrite direct, very impressed with the results and just how easy the stuff was to apply/remove.

Then today i headed over to my mate at JL Automotive in Fenton so we could make use of a ramp to do an genuine oil/filter change ready for when we head down to Newquay at the weekend, also had a coolant leak which i suspected to be the header tank which i was proven right on plus the lower hose had a split in it so both have been replaced with genuine items from our local ford dealer.

Also took the chance to remove the turbosmart dual port bov and replace it with a gfb dv+ as the other one was driving my wife mad and i can see why tbh.

not anything massive to report on, the car has just done another 600 mile (10 hour) round trip down to newquay again, ran absolutely faultless and is actually a pleasure to drive really effortless on the motorways with having so much low down torque in you can just leave it in 6th and pull from most speeds.

now i certainly never buy a car especially a performance based one for fuel economy etc, but i was rather impressed it used just a tad over half a tank each way which i think is rather impressive.
Its also so much better with the gfb dv+ on there, not really got anymore plans for it this year just maintain it and keep it as clean as possible (defo not leave it as long this time to give it a good detail).

Iv read in alot of places people seem to think certain exhaust systems drone on these cars, i can honestly say the 3" cobra system and decat doesnt seem to on ours, now i dont know if its just me thats used to having old school turbo motors that makes me think this is much more manageable and not anywhere near as intrusive or what? And i could guarantee you if it did drone then the wife would be on my case daily haha

this was the only picture i took of the car down newquay im pretty sure this was on the 1st night there.

as you can imagine the car was absolutely filthy after travelling there plus a full week and back, so when i got back i made sure to clean it off which was really easy with all the protection on the paintwork

I have a Miltec and a sports cat on mine and it's just perfect for what I wanted. I can't fault the economy of the car either.

Not sure what I'd replace the car with when I come to change just ticks all the boxes.

i understand miltek are very good and meant be the least intrusive.

thats exactly what iv been saying it does everything we need really well, i think the natural progression would be to go to a mk3 Focus ST/RS but that would be mainly just for a bit more room inside/boot etc

been a good while since updating this but glad to report the car is still absolutely faultless no problems at all.

got a set of michelin pilot ps4 tyres to go on pretty soon which imo are about as good as it gets for a road tyre.

I do have quite a decent thing to update on whilst out in the car the other weekend the wife turned to me and said i think the car does need some more power

Thats something i dont need telling twice so now its the decision to either go for the Collins cp5 set up with the s280 turbo and uprated injectors which will see me at around 340+bhp or go for one of my good mates bernies blowers (wilky) turbos which would see me around the same power give or take 5bhp and work out a hell of alot cheaper, then it would be custom mapped at my other mates at GT Motorsport.

And iv been doing alot of measuring on our driveway especially where the porch step kicks out and it seems like we would get away with lowering the car 30mm so a set of eibach springs will be finding the way onto to car soon.

The only thing i will say is collins were brilliant in terms of how quick they worked on the car etc. If anything goes wrong its on your head , where as if they do the conversion its there resonability.
All i can say is cp5 is brilliant for drivability and performance.

Cheers paul
