My mate Gus always put me right ..he spec'd this car before he left us I've changed a few minor bits ..but the spec was his ..he knew how to spend money God bless him .

 

With not having much time due to house move etc i dropped the gearbox casing off with the builder. He has a fantastic rep for good builds .. he's building me 1 box out of 3 .

Ib5 front starter cable clutch casing
Ford KA 1.3 Gear set ..shot peened
Ford Puma 1.7FD ..shot peened
Quaife LSD
All new uprated bearings,seals etc
Bc/ib5 hybrid thrust bearing .

 

that should do the trick nicely fella, sounds a good spec thats for sure.

 

Coming on well that, whos doing the gearbox work out of curiosity?

I need my FRS box swapped out with a lower final drive, but heard conflicting stories whether a Mk1 Focus diesel box FD fits or the Transit Connect final drive fits

 

It should mate hopefully .


PP Autos are building the box.

That i havnt a clue on pal ..maybe ask on a post ..someone will know.

 

Just nipped up to the gearbox builder and it's all done ..3 boxes into one stronger box ..just need some nice aluma blast to finish it off .

 

What do they reckon your box is good for now?

It's cost around 700 for everything and built .

 

Picked my TB upto from vapour blasting ..well happy for a tenner .Just got the rest of the bits to zinc plate .

 

He's a good guy Karl, I'm sure he does it more for the love than money.

Time to crack open the new chemistry set

He does mate ..and yea if you need zinc plating come for a brew and it will be done while you wait ..ive managed to get 2 emergency tins from demon tweeks for the gearbox tomorrow .

 

Well today i got the Turbo out to have a look at it and then painted the new box and then went to pick up the car to take to my nephews garage so I could fit the engine and box ..all was going well until I opened the box for the thrust bearing and it was cracked .. I've had to fit everything in without a thrust washer as it's due at the ND next week for manifolds etc ..so once it's back ill have to drop the box to fit a new thrust washer ...all in all its moved forward so I'm happy with the progress .









Up she goes with the old BC box in ready to take out .

Just a minor set back mate ..just a pain to have to take the box out again once back from fabricators but never mind .

wow mate great updates as always, such a shame about the thrust but im sure you will sort it asap once back from manifolds etc.

Yea I've heard very good stuff about his work and must admit hes made a really good job of mine ..really looking forward to getting it all done and fired up.

 

Another Thrust bearing arrived today ..time to take the box out and fit ...happy days .

 

Really need to try and find the wiring diagram online for the zeitronix set up and also raj @ AutoFlock for the carbon fibre vent covers hes made me...well happy .

 

How much were the covers?

 

We've done job for a job mate ..not sure what hes charging but I can see a few sets flying out ..he used my chrome ones as templates .

 

Had a few items arrived tonight and decided to clean the pf01 up with some neat G101 .

Injectors landed today .. Genuine Siemen's Deka 60lb 630cc . I've chucked them in the box with the fuel rail and inlet to be sent to Muz ..so happy days.

Looking good Mat. Using G101 is a good idea to clean car parts.

Gone in the garage tonight and chucked some bits on for mock up for the exhaust manifold etc as it goes to ND performance and fabrications tomorrow and I came across a little drama ..ive got a little more than a fist sized space but luckily with a few tweaks we can sort it ..also my wheel centres I'm having made a test one came for me to try and I'm happy as there in honour of my mate .
