I hope the welds hold up...MK is really only just learning, I am going to teach him how to use a mig on my Clarke 135 and then astound him with my Myford super 7 lathe skills.

Thanks Tim. You've kind of read my mind. For the initial build it will stay FWD. Then once the engine and bits are proven, I'll sell off all the suspension bits and gearbox, then go AWD. EVO is the way I'm leaning. This won't be for a while though.

This VID shows how it handles in the wet, your FOCUS would be sooo cool doing this:

Well it’s in paint. A nice shade of dark matt grey. It should keep the reflection down.

Looks ACE. I really like it. What will you do in the foot wells where your feet would rub it away? Something like Rhino liner or have trays made up? I would also put something like 3m clear tape on the door bars as your feet will scratch them really quickly. I have the 3m carbon fibre tape and I just replace it yearly as it scuffs up.

I started work on the underside today. I was concerned about the amount of surface rust forming so I set about it with a wire wheel and scotch brite. Once it was shiny again and all the old rusty bits were free of loose bits, I lathered way too much bilt hamber electrox on it all. Should keep it protected for a while. Once it’s dry it’ll be having a 2 pack epoxy mastic coat then gravitex where needed. It’ll possibly have a light grey top coat too.

A little more done today. Gravitex in the rear arches then I cleaned the main floor pan before I applied a dusting of etch primer. I’m leaving it a couple of days now to go off before I apply the epoxy mastic and start on the sills

Epoxy mastic was applied today. That’s the underside pretty much done now. I doubt I’ll put a top colour on. Just a bit of seam sealing to do. Monday I’m onto the sills and front arches.
I think if I do a top coat it’ll be a similar shade of grey. It’ll certainly help to spot oil leaks.

Cool my mate who did the rs face lift on the shell said the under seals like concrete on newer cars hopefully it wont be to bad but i do want to do what youve done

Don’t get me wrong I don’t want to do it again anytime soon but it wasn’t that bad. I’ve got a hole in a sill that needs sorting but the rest is solid. I left all the sound proofing on as it was solid and the interior showed no signs of rot. I’ll fill all the chassis rails with acf50 or dymax sealant and keep my fingers crossed

I suppose that depends if it’s tucked away warm in a unit or it’s spent 3 years exposed to the elements
