mk4 fiesta 1.8 zetec conversion
Hi guys as per title I have started to build a fez for my girlfriend... Previous builds you may have seen, are big power zetec turbo focus I built on here...
This project is mainly all built from spares from previous builds so handy keeping the costs down. Plan is 1.8 zetec running zx12r tbs removing power steering to make things simple and running on Megasquirt management.
So far I have the engine sitting in the car nice and level by manufacturing my own mount from 4.5mm steel.
I'm using the 1.3 original gearbox from the fiesta...
However have found the driveshaft mounting points are quite different, an obstacle yet to overcome..
Will try to keep everything up to date just yell at me if I'm slacking haha
The girlfriend getting hands on ha

update
Been a fairly.busy couple weeks... Have made a intermediate driveshaft bracket for the back of the engine as neither the original nor focus matched up... (quite a head scratcher)
Have also purchased the zx12r throttle bodies and welded my own inlet manifold.. All marry up very nicely..
Have also made my own mounts for the alternator at the front and tension/jockey pulley to be in replace of the power steering pump..
Still cleaning engine and have cleaned and painted the gearbox.
Bracket made from 4mm steel and 5mm round bar.

Another update.
Time has been cut short to get it road running end of the month so pulled my finger out.
Engine is now with the gearbox in the car..
Throttle linkage working open and closing nicely. With a vacume under port 3 for brake servo.
The alternator belt has now been fitted making my own adjuster pulley and tilting alternator arm.
New cambelt fitted.
Jobs today measure all coolant hoses needed.. I will probably blank of the heater hoses as not going to use them while its warm.
Wiring ecu needs to be done and connect driveshafts and gear linkage.
Throttle bodies fitted
Using power steering pump bracket to mount my custom slider pulley
Spaced with m16 flat washers to keep belt straight
1148 belt fits perfectly
Gearbox painted and ready to fit
All fitted safe and level
The biggest pain of all fitting the cable right and tight

Got a new stainless manifold and am going to make my own exhaust system.
Car is getting stripped out to bare shell with lightweight seats..
My ecu also features launch controll and flatshifting so that's going to be fun 😃

Been a rather big headache lately with the wiring.. My ecu wasn't priming the fuel pump so turns out it is a transistor in the ecu that is faulty.
Managed to test the fuel lines my making some ghetto style wiring to ground the pump haha..
Got some nice corbeu seats for cheap with harness on fleabay, and started two make a custom side exit exhaust.
As almost finished just a few jobs of wiring rad fan, stripping car out, and coolant pipes and test.

Exhaust flange I made using the gasket as a template
