93 mk3 Fiesta Sleeper
Hi all!!
Im starting this thread mainly for ideas.
Im 18 and I want to make my lil fezza into a car I can use on the track because I have a Morris Minor 1000 as my daily so I need a track day car that I can go fast in so I can let my want to go fast out on the track instead of on the road!
Im going to do minimal body modifications because I like the idea of a sleeper but I wanna know what you guys think I should have lying under the bonnet?
Thanks!
Jack.

10K+ Poster!!
A zetec engine will go in without much fuss, plenty of people on here have done it. That would make a good project.

Don't bother with the 2i lump, they're nothing to shout about.
A simple and reasonably cheap but effective swap would be a 2.0 Zetec on a set of bike throttle bodies, K1/2 ones off a GSXR 1000 are ideal as they can be split so you can space them to suit. Then whatever ECU is recommended by your mapper, unless you're doing it yourself of course.
A friend has the exact same setup in a KA, it ran 160bhp on standard internals with ARP rod bolts, absolutely nothing inside bar a cage and a seat, with 300mm Mondeo brakes and slicks it's comical to drive.

Cheers everyone for the feedback, I was thinking 2.0 zetec on carbs but didn't know whether to go bike carbs or twin webers ect. All I really want is a cheap conversion for a bit more power because I just want to get used to the track in something then possibly upgrade to something bigger soon like a saloon. Plus I don't have a lot of money atm to plunge right into the fiesta because I'm restoring my morris minor too :/

Bike carbs are a simple and effective route to take, gsxr thousand carbs work well with a Bogg Brothers manifold. You can run Fords EDIS 4 alongside a mappable ecu like Megajolt.

Sorry I haven't replied!! All great ideas and I wish I could do them all really! But I've been given a ford puma so I think I'm gunna use the engine from that I know it's not a straight fit as it would be in a mk4/5 but I think it would be a bit different seeing a mk3 with a puma swap. I was just wondering if people knew how I'd go about it in terms of fuel pumps? Could I use the puma ecu for now to get it running? Cut puma and reweld the engine mounts in the fez?
Thanks,
Jack.

I can vouch for the handling of a mk3 Fiesta, but 1700 SE lumps are cracking engines and are very light.

Hi again!
Does anyone know if the whole fuel tank just swaps over with the fuel pump sender unit? Or would running the 1700 se on carbs be a good/different idea and still you the original mechanical pump?
Cheers!

Jack.

I'm Finding My Feet Here Now
If the puma rear beam
Has the eye type mounted rear suspension and not the fork type then yes you can swap straight over to the fezza this will give you larger rear drums whilst increasing rear ended grip massively..
What engine route are you going for now ? Zetec or sigma engine? escort gti? No parts that I can think of would benefit you if not using the zetec engine, possibly the brakes but I would be going st170 route with 300mm's I have these brakes on a mk3.5 and they're monsters
