I also got a rear bumper cause I have never been happy with the one on the car. There was always cracks in the paint and the bottom part of the bumper was all wibily wobbly cause the bumper had spent to long on a tresel in the bodyshop last time it got painted.

Ive just been paying him a bit at a time.Ive give him about 900 quid now.I was a bit disappointed if im honest. The lad who owns the bodyshop is a really canny lad.I just dont know why its taking so long.

I sopose its easier making money off easy jobs like painting panels.

i think what happens is they take the job on when there quiet then it get moved to the side when the small easy jobs come in then it keeps getting further and further down the list till every time you go in its not been touched keep your chin up u should give the guy a deadline to get it finished or you should bill him lol

Glenn, this is exactly why I lost the plot and i'm selling the white 2wd saph, it got delivered to be repaired on the 16th July, I work away and continually asked for updates which were always vague. I eventually got the chance to go and see the car mid september and it has been lying outside next to a field since it was dropped off there, not been touched. Everytime we spoke about money the price seemed to go up, and tbh i didn't care as I wanted it done so I kept saying ok just do it, then I get...well i have repeat customers, i need a whole week to do it....Zzzzzzzzz I gave up at that point, he obviously can't be fucked doing it, so now it's plan B.
Needless to say I just thought "fuck this".... I offered more than once to pay up front, and for materials as well. I hope you have better luck and seeing as yours almost looks finished that they want it out the way soon.
My only saving grace is that he didn't take my money in advance and then I'd still be left with a rotten car just sitting there.

Like I said in my previous post Glenn. They are happy to take your money and push it to the side. Then when it's time to do the job they have spent the money on other jobs. Always pay once the job is completed. I understand they need materials but don't pay for the labour until the jobs done.

Don't tell them April they'll push it back further.
If your ok with the wait the main thing is the quality of the work.
It will feel fast as fook when you get it back after driving the puma.
I know someone who's respray took over 3 years as he told them just to do it as a fill in job.
Hope it all works out good.

glen cars like this in a body shop never get done ,due to working on cars that come in out in a day or two ,the lads work on them when they get 5 mins witch isn't often ,I worked at sg petch were it went last time ,so I know the score don't pay anymore till its done mate

the work in total took about 100 hours and it would be painted by now but we are short of cash atm ! so Therese no real excuse for how long they have taken

Glenn mate, don't give them any more dough until the job is done. They are taking the piss out if you mate.

I've had more than my share of dealing with bodyshops and I'm sick of them!!

The worst thing I did was to pay a load of dough up front as they just dragged their heels and took fucking ages, it was meant to take no more than 2 weeks, it ended up taking over 2 and a half months and had I not got seriously pissed off with them, I dare say it would've been even longer! And to add insult to injury, they did a piss poor job too.

Same went for my engine build. Gave 2K up front and after me constantly hassling and getting various excuses, 14 months later I got my engine back! 14 MONTHS FFS!!!!!!!!!

I don't give anything up front at all now, it just doesn't pay to mate.

Tell them they won't get another penny until the job is done, I guarantee there'll be more progress then!

The problem is mate, you know each other! So he's thinking 'ah, Glenn won't mind if I take my time'!!

That's why I used somebody I didn't know and never used before.

And now that he's got to know me and had repeat work off me, it's the same old story again!!

My mate had similar problems when he was getting his MGB welded, they just kept on making stories up, always saying the price had changed, and they needed some money up front. He let them do all the welding then turned up with a trailer, out of the blue, paid what he owed them, then took it elsewhere to get sprayed. I think some places take on jobs they can't manage. Your car is coming along, but looks like it is taking too long

Those panels are sweet Glenn, i hope you get your pride and joy back very soon!

Things like this are making you angry, if they can't do it or haven't got the time...Then just say it instead of fucking around.

Keep the faith Glenn

I had to hassle the life out of my bodyshop to sort my old Saff out.

In the end I went in and helped put it all back together again!

Wow that looks miles different.

I stripped the car down for him matey. He said I could do this to keep the cost down. When its done I will put the bumpers arch liners and side skirts back on and drive the car home with one seat in and rebuild the rest of the car at home.Or less I just leave it in his bodyshop till ive built it all back up.

Just got a phone call of the lad at the bodyshop. Basically he is saying so far the cost to of do the ns of the car is up to 1300quid.Ive gave him 800 and he wants me to pay the extra 500 before he will carry on with the other side.

So if the os sill is the same as the ns,to get the work done and this is without paint work its gonna cost me 1600quid then pain on top.

Im a bit pissed off tbh cause its gonna be a 3grand bill.

Bloody rusty fookin Fords.
