Long awaited Thread of my ST170 Track car
As in the title iv been meaning to start a thread about my st170.
I see it on pistonheads and because cash was tight i waited for 3/4 weeks
and cheket pistonheads again and it was still up for sale so i had to go and have a look even though cash was even tighter.
Me and my partner when up on sunday the morning of centrol day at the pod and the car was in coventry, even though there was a few problems like the front brake pad was so thin it had half fallen out but lol it had 11 mounts mot. The body work was mint and if i was going to get one it had to be in this rear coluor (capri blue).
So i bort it and me and my partner stopet at the pod on the way back it would of been rood not to and these are the first pics.

As you can see I had the floor painted in shoots.
New mintex vented and grooved disks and mintex pads I will upgrade to a AP set up when I'm not as poor lol.
Flo flex bushes all round I will go roise jointed all round again when I'm not poor lol
I had the team dynamic wheels that come with the car painted as when the pads were metal on metal the fillings was eating in to the wheels and the front wheels whent orangy white.

Front disks with new anodised wheel nuts
I painted the front and rear hubs. I also fitted new (ford) wheel bearings so I would not have to strip it all out again if one failed.
New anty roll bar links.
New uprated and thicker anty roll bars front and rear.

The body and interior. I fully striped out all unnessory weight. cut the inner doors out and the spear wheel well out. Because I cut the spear wheel well out the wind catches the rear bumper hence the holes in the bumper and I like to think a little less drag.
The first pic was befor the interior was sprayed. With rear brace welded in and dubbliing plates at each end.
I fitted a new cage and had it painted the same colour wheels.
I had to have a new screen fitted for the MOT lol
When the auto glass man was there he fitted my plastic windows as well.

Well my best mate is a top designer for a road sweeping company that use spax for there suspension as thay spent 100k + with them over the last few years my mate tappet them up for a set.
The set I got was designed for track for the focus but as there was not a lot of interests so thay never put the kit in to production. Thay found people were more interested in slamming there cars so made the kits more for lowering not handling

i agree a diffuser would look great even just for looks if not function. better than holes.
How do you find the flo flex?? im ordering some as their so much cheaper than other makes. 157 a full set is cheap as chips.
Do they all fit easy without presses beacause i dont fancy putting my arms in a vice when they are powdercoated. but if needs must il have too.

Flo flex was good and easy to fit to the front arms mate and the front anty roll bar. But all the rear arms were crap because when I pressed the bush housing out to put the flo flex one in it was loose in the hole of the arm so I ended up welding the housing in. But I've had different bush kits that have fitted a lot better in the past.
