I was finding the battery was not holding charge for very long. A few wks and it was getting flat. I think that is a problem of the alarm or something though and maybe not the battery. It was cranking slow on old wiring that I also thought was battery's fault. Now it's transformed so I should get a better idea of the battery's performance. It was about £50 off eBay from memory. Iv had it just over a yr so still going strong after a charge anyway

decided to swap out the induction kit as it probably sucks in too much hot air so gone back to standard air box with k and n panel filter.

probably do very little but had some foil tape so thought it worth a try that it may reflect the heat.

Cool matey.
Could you not mount your cone air filter behind the front bumper so it would get a good cold air feed.

I won't be driving it till I tax it in March but it doesn't rev as fast as it did with the underdrive pulley. Best be safe than sorry though

All looks good Steve, I've often wondered if putting in some kind of panel in the engine bay, to separate the air box area from the hot areas would work ?

best idea is a hole in bonnet with an induction kit stuck out of the top like a mad max supercharger lol

Get a morette headlamps and remove one of the light to suck cold air or destroy one original lamp and create a hole in it and guide a hose from it to induction. I sugest this: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFgxNjAw/z/hg8AAOSwEK9UKU1B/$_57.JPG

paint was really bad on the team dynamics so needed a refurb.

chemically dipped so all clean bare alloy

Size: 64.5 KB

a full refurb was 4 times the cost of stripping so i set about painting myself

curbing was very minor so sanded out the few areas that needed it

not much of an update but thought id let rog nevsrevs know how the battery is going on new wiring. its working great now. left a few wks and its still starting stronger than ever. the thicker gauge wiring is working and the kill switch is stopping battery drain. very happy now.

also 2 track days booked so far. spring action day april 25th ish i think and RS combe for july 4th. also rolling road day end of this month so looking forward to that,

cheers

Default Timing Belt

Hi all.

Could I ask, in which direction is the thread for the Crank pulley/Under pulley.
Im currently changing a timing belt after it got stripped of a few teeth. I have the crank at TDC and the crank locking pin inserted and the crank turnd up against it. I know there torqued fairly tight. So do I turn the crank pulley nut clockwise againt the lockin pin (and risk bending it inside the engine) or do I turn anticlockwise. In which case the crank turns freely.. The old timing belt was cut free after setting TDC and the cams line up fairly close on the back where you slide the locking strap.. How can I lock the crank up if i need to turn it anticlockwise. it will freely rotates about a Qtr Anticlockwise before it stops but without the belt the Cams remain stationery. So is it pressing againt a valve or is the crank hittting the crank locking pin inside (just from the other direction) I just want to be sure and not force her.

Many thanks in Advance

Allso as the timing has gone out due to the belt loosing teeth. will i need to set the variable valve timing. or do i just set the crank againt the pin TDC and have the strap in both cams at the rear of the engine. Will I have to remove "Slop" from the VVT ???

thanks i appreciate that. iv been busy on other cars last few wks.lowering my nephews ds3 and putting a cage in my brothers civic. my car will get some love this wk now getting it ready for rolling road on saturday.

just thought id show some pics of what iv been doing with the cage on my brothers car. its a shonky honda i know but..

so remember my cheapy astra cage, well i found a vauxhaul viva roll cage on ebay and my bro snapped it up for £32. would it fit a ep3 civic lol. worked out not too bad a fit actually height and width was almost perfect. rear stays were short so i made up box sections for the rear

boxed out the front. this box is not just hollow its supported inside too

Name: image_9.jpg
Views: 322
Size: 250.0 KB

we had a slight change of position after i mocked up front boxes so cage is further back than 1st planned so thats why the box looks way too big. was too much work to change it.

its only the rear half we fitted but for the cost of it i think it turned out ok.

thanks

they never make 170 so most are low 160s if that sometimes. with the cam vernier and map i was thinking it would make about 175. he did say that if it was leaned out it would make 180 but do you think that is true. i altered the maps because i removed cone filter so switched to map for standard airbox but it seems a crap map. it couldnt really pass mot the other day it was so rich and blew through 20 of fuel way quicker than before. im switching maps back and doing some driving tests and possibly just going back to stock map.

i dont know nothing about afr so feel free to pour out some knowledge please.

torque is up by 10 though

thanks

I would get a afr gauge fitted if you can find one going cheap, then you can check between maps, could you not of changed the map whilst at the rollers just to check?

its a slow procces swapping maps. it takes about 10mins at least for the upload. it was a rolling road day with welshford so it was rush you, rush you out. id had to pay for another run i suppose but didnt take handset anyway.

Coming alone nicely Steve.

That HP Estimated Flywheel HP or Wheel HP???

What's AFR ment to be on a ST170? I know at ideal my focus sits on 10.4 but that's just a stock 2.0 and I know it goes up past 12....

Did they even tell you what you had @ the wheels?
