well ive been quite busy with the old girl.
my arch extensions are a no go so im now sourceing some genuine ones from japan.
silly go faster stripes are now removed and also removed the wing mirrors, i have bullet style mirrors to go on the wings neext to the front wheels.
the proper rear lights are ridiculous money for mint ones so ive gone for the classic style but in led.
ive done a mock up for positioning with cardboard and painted it silver, heres the first mock up

i am very happy with them ive just gotta decide where i want to position them so i can make the mount plate out of aluminium or stainless steel.

Will reserve judgement on the rear lights until they are done, not sure just yet!

Still got both kidneys? Could always sell one to buy the pukka units lol

the lights are nowhere near finished its just a piece of cardboard.
the fog/reverse needs to go outwards and the lights will be further in.

i can always buy a proper set if needs be but at least reserve judgement til ive done it.

ive just got in now, made the back plates out of aluminium, sunk them right in as far as they will go and ive moved the reverse/fog as close to the indicator as i can.
only had phone but took a pick

im waiting for a hole cutter now to cut the holes for the lights.

Can you planish a recess in the panels so the lights look a little more original?
That's what I'd do

Punishing is the use of a hammer and dollie to take dents out but you can use them to put shapes/recess' s in the material your working with.

You could use a tube larger than the outside diameter of the light .
Place that under the steel/ali
Then hit another tube the same o/d on the top pushing the steel/ali into a recess making a dish shape (if that makes sense)

well ive just ordered proper arch extension and a c10 rear spoiler

ive ordered a mk1 golf front deep chin spoiler, its 103mm deep and measures the correct width so worth a shot at £25.
does anyone know where i could get a 5" internal diameter 6" external diameter bezel ?
something that looks similar to this that i could put around the rear lenses

that is a chrome gauge bezel im thinking something like that

Could one of the lathe/milling machine owners off here not make some up then just get them chromed? at least they could be made how you want them rather than having to compromise?

i can get some billet custom gauge bezels that will fit but there "300 for the 4 !
ive now got a contact supplier in japan so i may end up with some proper rear lights anyway if they come up at reasonable money.
i have found loads of bezels on ebay just plastic but chrome looking like the original tail trim edge is but there not quite big enough, there must some i just need to find them.

well i wasnt happy with the golf front splitter.

im now in contact with feast japan autos,
so far i have ordered a good second hand c10 boot spoiler and arch extensions and brand new front chin spoiler and a boss kit so i can fit my momo steering wheel.
he is also getting me a quote on a full rear light set with all trim.

i have now got the correct size rear number plate on and also installed the rear lights into an aluminium plate ive made recessed into the original trim.
i just need some bezels now 6" outside diameter, 5" inside diameter but i cant find any anywhere ?

Think outside the box, go for a wander round your local B&Q etc for trims.

it will be lower mate, but im waiting for parts and also the r33 is still on the ramp awaiting the exhaust manifold.

rear arch needs altering, wing mirrors fitting, some surface rust sorting here and there. still loads to do but im happy only had it a week today.
the rear arches will need some cutting out and the whole car will be lowered around 50mm maybe more. im gonna set it up by cutting the springs and see how much lower it needs to go then see if i can find some proper springs at that drop.

lights look much better that the orignal ones.. nice work..

every time I look at this picture

I just cant help thinking how the red and white 'Starsky & Hutch' paint job would suit it.. similar rear quarter shape the Ford Torino IMO..

also lovin' the old style slotted wheels..

thanks im happy with them, your the third person to mention a torino aswell
it suprising how the look of a car can change just from removeing red pin stripes and cack wheels. im gonna do all rust repairs and keep blue and black for now just touching up.

thanks im happy with them, there never gonna be as nice as a fully chromed up genuine set but they cost £90 and ive enjoyed doing it tbh all i had was a sheet of aluminium, some hand snippers and a hole drill that was 2mm too small lol
oh and £6 worth of black aerosol

i have found a nice mint set of lights in japan but there gonna be well over £1000 maybe £1500 if i get caught by customs !
