This C63 is definitely a keeper, it has just 4K miles from new, previous owner was Steve Soper (Ex British Touring Car Champion). Purchased it totally stock, but three days after buying it I paid MSL Performance a visit for a remap and Dyno session, 595bhp & 699lbs torque.
Almost their now Jim. Made 361 bhp on a 34.63 and 325llbs Unfortunately the rear Crank seal let go so have the gearbox out again and await a new ptfe seal.i have to get a full suspension set uo A few teething probs but would say its very close.
Love the beemer jim

The Sapph is looking great! Whats with the while lip on the spoiler though? It looks a bit weird to me. Never been a fan of the fact they changed that on the facelifted 4x4.
The E46 is looking great too. I still think that is the best looking BMW ever.
James you've done an outstanding job on her, and you've certainly made my day seeing her again looking stunning.
You'll have to let me know if your taking her to any of the Ford Shows over the summer, would love to sit in that driving seat again.
Surely must be one of the best Sapphires out there.
Do you remember when I joked that i'd be retired by the time you finished her, well you managed it one year ahead of schedule......... But i have semi retired early....... More time to work on the cars......LOL.
Don't forget, first offer if you ever decide to sell her.........
I still have my C63 AMG twin turbo, which keeps me entertained, and have a few special plans for the BMW 330.
Keep the pictures coming and hope to meet up sometime in the near future.
apologies for the late reply mate, my mobile app has been acting up but I'm back on my computer now.
thankyou for your kind words Jim. the only reason it looks so good Is a testament to yourself and staffi and the other previous owners for looking after it so well for all those years . the waxoil has really done its job keeping the rust at bay ,it really is the life of these cars.
with the pandemic, I can't see me being in the UK this year at any shows but definitely next year mate .
i think I went beyond a joke with the length of time it took me to get it finished him ,but I was always spending money on buying other rs ,s and cossie parts lol.
i can't ever see me selling this Jim, but you have my word on first dibs if I do mate . I would love to be semi-retired Jim and spending more time on cars lol.i hope your not overdoing it , and take the time to enjoy the time after many years of graft .
in fairness you have had some collection of cars through the years jim
Looking Totally Stunning James, I think I can wait until next year to view her 😅😅😅. Most times taking the time to do things properly take time and it certainly looks like you did that.
You should be very proud of all your hard work, must be one of the best.
After six years of driving C63 AMG's I made the decision it was time to buy my "Forever Car" ........ a car that i'd admired since they first came out in V8 form, and progressed to V10 over the years. I remember going out for a ride in a V8 version many years ago at a Goodwood track day and was impressed with the speed it could take the corners and the acceleration coming out of the corners which if you'd done in a rwd car you'd have lost the back end. When the later V10 5.2 engined cars came onto the market a few years later (2009) I promised myself that one day i'd have one.
The C63's were great, but they had limits, both of my W204's were mapped to just over the 500bhp mark by MSL in Birmingham, who are the acclaimed experts on C63's. My later 2018 C63 (W205) was of course the 4.0 V8 Twin Turbo and the first thing I did was to have it mapped by MSL and it was awesome with almost 600bhp.......... But the limiting factor was putting the power down which it had difficulty in doing from a standing start or any full throttle acceleration in 1st 2nd or 3rd gear, and in the wet it was much like a 2wd Cosworth, you just couldn't get the power down. The great news was that I actually made money on my last C63, I was offered 5k more than I paid for the car and i'd had the pleasure of driving it for over a year.
Enter the 2012 Audi R8 V10 with 28k miles from new ............ Wow, it's often referred to as the everyday supercar, and so far i've been impressed how easy it is to drive. Yes, I'm dreading anything going wrong as the price of parts are horrendous, so I made certain I bought a car with a full service history and genuinely spent almost two hours inspecting the car. The only faults I could find was that there was an error code for the Tyre Pressure Warning Sensor which comes up on the dashboard every now and again (I can live with this for the time being) and the bonnet had been resprayed as a result of stone chips and the respray is not up to the standard of the rest of the car (This needs sorting quickly...... My OCD can't handle that..... LOL). Other than that, she drives like an everyday car, and the noise in the cabin, bearing in mind you have a V10 5.2ltr engine just six inches behind your head is amazing, really quiet to drive and perfect for long distances.
Loving it so far.
28k miles from new ...... Loving It. Just love this engine
i would much prefer the audio over a c63 myself ,and that looks a minter mate .
the only update on the staff is the quaiffe big tooth is with bernie at cts having had a full rebuild.gearbox was wanked .i wouldn't mind the gearbox was supposedly looked over by one of UK,s top cossie tuners and passed fit before I bought it.
I'm not blaming the tuner because I don't think he ever looked at it in the firds place lol.
The gearbox had a Quaife Big Tooth Gear kit fitted shortly before I sold her and apart from having a little more transmission noise (Which is normal) I changed the oil after about 1k miles and the old oil was perfect.
Be interesting to know what the problem is.
There’s Tuners and Tuners…….. I had Carl Norris (NMS) build the Engine and most of the other work was sorted through Mike Rainbird who used to arrange the work to be carried out by Harvey Gibbs while I was away working overseas, hence the low mileage.
It's that time of the year again, nice cars in the workshop all cleaned and waiting for spring, daily run around's filthy but getting me to work on time.
How's the Saph, hope your bringing her to one of the show's next year, for me to carry out a PDI on her
saffs locked up for the winter,I'm just waiting on a wheel bearing to arrive as its a bit growly lol
i got this a couple of months back ,1.6 automatic with 21 k miles from new .its slow one but its you brings back the good old days
When Mike Rainbird sorted all the susupension and alignment out for me, he fitted 3dr front hubs, as supposedly they gave a better turn in. But I always had to remember when getting the suspension done, to tell the fitter that the front suspension needed setting up to 3dr specifications, not 2wd Sapphire. I remember forgetting to tell them this once, and the car handled like a drunk sailor. Not sure if you still have the 3dr front hubs on the car, but if it handles like a bag of shit, then this is the reason. Needs setting up bearing in mind which front hubs are on her now.
Stunning looking car, not many in that model and even less in that condition.
Perfect sleeper too if you wanted to go in that direction.
Cheers jim ,tbh its just too original to mess with

yeah jim i have 3dr front hubs fitted .i went with mike rainbirds settings on the front .i still have to get the rear setup redone as i had a bad wheel bearing on the rear aswell and the settings were out .so once i get it motd again in feb i will have the zoo beam settings redone mate .
ive only managed 550 miles in 2 years lol .i also need to get the cams dialled in and a better cold start map done on it .
Just checking in to see if you have any updates/pics of G88-MW. Wondered if you made it across to any of the shows this year. Hope she's running well and keeping you entertained. I'm doing well, still have the R8 V10 which is relatively long term for me, normally don't keep them this long...... LOL.
James : Got your PM and replied, I'll be there wouldn't miss it for the world.... LOL.
So what's been happening, well to everyone's amazement, I've now had the R8 V10 over two and a half years, and have no intention of getting rid of it. Yes parts are crazy prices (Front Headlight Unit - Ł2,700.00 + VAT) so snapping up spares that occasionally pop up on Ebay are a must. Also worth checking part numbers of items you're considering replacing, as many part numbers come from other cars in the Audi range and don't attract the R8 TAX.... LOL.
A summers day in sunny Hull Gorgeous Sunshine in Hull What a picturesque place Hull is......

Another addition to the fleet and currently filling the role of "Daily Driver" which replaced my previous E46 330ci Individual is this rare BMW Alpina D3 Twin Turbo, It really does live up to it's reputation, great handling, huge torque for what it is and regular 50mph if you cruise at 70mph on a long journey.
that r8 is really the every day supercar ,and best colour lol
Well today the R8 had her major service (Every 3 years) carried out by REPerformance, the acknowledged Audi R8 Experts, owned and managed by Ricky Elder ex design engineer for Audi Sport. Only 2 minor faults, rear fog light not working which Ive now sorted and one rear shock absorber needing replacing. Total cost (Not including MagRide Rear Shock absorber) just over 2k !! yea its expensive but at the end of the day, its a Supercar with a Lamborghini V10 5.2 engine and based and on a Lamborghini Gallardo chassis, capable of 190mph plus. Audi marketed these as the Every Day Supercar and so far shes doing a great job.
Ill be attending in the R8 V10 and Ill bring the log book with me, I might be able to tempt you return the keys to G88NMW to me LOL.
Been busy having new shocks & springs fitted to the R8, now driving much better than with the original "MagRide" set up. This is the later suspension from R8 Performance Plus, which is a bit more compliant and more suited to "fast road" than the MagRide which we're a bit too harsh for my driving style and quick blasts over the North Yorkshire Moors.
