There was a project on here a while back with a 2.5 mondeo engine which looked mounted but don't know how far he'd got into it.

The mondeo engine is huge though, the Vauxhall v6 is much more compact making it easier to fit but they'll both need a lot of time and effort to do, it's not difficult just very time consuming, if you want something different stick a jap engine in or a clio sport engine

A commonrail diesel engine would probably be a laugh in an Escort, 130hp and loads of torque!

If you want a properly big engine in there, look towards V8's. The Mondeo V6's and stuff like that are physically huge for what they are.

A 5.7 LS1 in there would be quality.

i have a good st24 engine and gearbox you can have for free if you want remove it from the car ( im in great yarmouth )
or you can have the car free if you sort a tow truck etc, although outside its missing parts under the bonnet is complete
