My escos diary few sunshine pics 05-07-12
Thought i might start this diary for a bit of fun really. Basically i broke my magenta saph early last year and swore i'd finished with cossies but about a month back i got the urge for another so started looking at escort cosworth's, spotted one on the escort forum and after talking to the previous owner i had to have it
A few pics of it
Once the car was delivered it lived at my brothers house until i built my new wooden shed to keep it in,
So with that done i had chance to have a look over the car, 2 things that stuck out was the smell of fuel under the bonnet and also a slight clonk when stopping and then pulling away. So after a bit of investigating i found rubber fuel hose with jubilee clips used as the feed pipe, so i ditched this and replaced with some nice aeroquip
secondly was the clonk which i found out to be a loose pinch bolt for the bottom joint, it allowed the ball joint to move and cause this !!
So with all that out the way the next job on the list was the dash lights, which are actually an electronic sheet behind the clock faces them selves, so after looking on the net i found a thread on the escortforum with a guide on how to fix them,
before
after
One thing i forgot to mention was the vine plates monster made for me
Well thats pretty much a brief explanation of where im up to up until today. I decied that due to the crappy weather i would redo the inlet manifold and also the rocker cover as both had started to flake where i dont think any etch primer was used.
So off they both come and alot of stripping sanding etc later i ended up with this,
before pics
during/after
best paint match i could find
finished article, all redone with cometic gaskets and new bolts etc

looks lovely
I have a racing puma and would only ever sell it for an ecos. but was worried about the running costs of one considering i would have to pay 14-15K for nearly a 20yr old car.
and could i use it often as i take the puma out for a blast most summer weekends with no worries at all
