Default My Sierra Sapphire Ghia, Not just the usual resto (pic heavy!)

been meaning to do this for a while, will upload as i go.

i know it wont get loads of comments as its not an RS PMSL

H reg 2.0 ghia auto which i converted to manual and fitted poly gearstick bushes

3 owners, every MOT from new, 2 sets of keys, origional reg plates and window stickers from Ringways!

i was going to use the car to reshell my Rouse but decided against it

this is how i had the car after 3 days, and was used EVERY day

proper car for wafting about in IMO, Ghia seats are the tits!

car had no heaters when i got it, replaced waterpump, t/stat, plugs, leads, cap, rotor and made a òoooj difference.

snowflakes, chopped springs and matt black 4x4 vented bonnet
as pictured at ClassicFord @ pod last year

the car needed a wing on the front so i took the liberty of spending £258 on a pair of genuine ones and got the toolage out, Andyescos your my hero lol

while the wings were off i made some sexy plates to replace the curroded crud!

then the inner arches were Schtz`d and the new wings welded on, gaps are perfect, Quality Ford wings

then i took the liberty of taking the rear axle out, tank and exhaust off while i had the `box out and checked for rot, happily i found sod all! (although the o/s rear sill hass been patched for MOT some years ago)
floor was ground back with wire wheel and again Schutz`d and nailed back together with the tank getting a new fuel filter, painted bracketry, painted tank strap, stonechipped tank.

I have since gave up my garage buisness and got a job for a big company with company van so lost my use of ramps and workspace obviousley so the rest will be done from home

next post in a hour or so when i upload the rest of the piccies

Right,
since 90% of the hard work was done i just needed to put colour on the pannels, some before pics

i then prepped the n/s wing for paint with rattle cans, looks well actually, suprising but its only to get it silver really,
Bear in mind ive never done bodywork before but i am quite anal, 3 coats of high build primer, 5 coats moonstone base, 4 coats laquer all 2500 wet flatted inbetween
fcukin things took 3 weeks

Before laquer

clear coat`d........shiny!
i also decided to paint the bottom half satin black, the Rouse bumper will be staying and painted black aswell as a STD saff bumper

then started on the rear 1/4 as it had crazed (think thats the term, all cracked up)

i got a new employee, awwwwwwwwww

Its got brand new Koni 4x4 cosworth rear shocks and Eibach springs

std chopped fronts untill i locate 2wd sierra non cosworth stuff.

also have a set of Brembo`s to go on, and 300 mm disks if they will go behind the rims! (yes or no peeps)

what the car will look like...............

satin black lower half,
Rouse 250-R front bumper painted satin black
STD rear bumper, again.....painted satin black
Azure rear Spoiler (or just a little lip like a e39 M jobbie) and bootlid painted satin black
Escos rims

Blue Ghia trim back in and Rouse one back in storage
drivers seat one of those wrap around touring car bucket jobbies in blue

oh and ive forgot i had this too Garrett T4 i paid £380 for, off a 508bhp civic that was just on for mapping, then changed for a .82 housing`d item (.70 and .63 respectivley)

More tomorow unless i get bored again tonight

well it needs a headgasket as its weeping slightly from the front corner (think thats why heaters keep going off!!)

will be porting the head while its off, for fuel economy obviousley

wont be going turbo, thats for the A4, decided im going widebody and S4 interior.

How you like the work so far Acidburn? Doing it right??

s4 interior can be bettered, I found the seats was not that supportive. Widebody stuff, alot of the parts are now becoming nla, I know one of the wings are.

Yeah looking good, apart from the front bumper are you going for a complete cosworth rep?

NO!! no cossie rep, the bumper is a one off mate but i have a brand new one for the new shell for the Rouse build!

will have the Rouse bumper, no skirts and azure boot spoiler, standard rear bumper
would you prefer i do not to paint the roof and bootlid black?

S4 trim is just for the blue doorcard inserts/carbon strips and blue inner rear seats, fronts will be wrap around buckets like pictured above with centres trimmed in S4 blue alcantara

Azure spoiler

no worries, i'd only end up turning it into a cossie rep, miss my old one. I don't mind if you paint roof/boot, i'd most likely end up giving it a complete respray anyways.

should look good with that colour interior, seen many come up for sale? I saw jp's one but dunno/doubt that would fit.

this was my old one from the isle of wight, had a turbo technics conversion, I had it on the road for a whole week before the fact it was lowered killed the exhaust and the manifold

Still think you should rs4 body yours as your engine can be done for the same power if not more and has less to go wrong....

im SO torn Acidburn,

RS4`s are my "unicorn" car, every time i go to buy one summat happens :S

my A4 will probebly end up getting widebodied, bought a set of coils for coil on plug conversion today also.

on the lookout for RS4 pannels as we speak

Looking forward to getting the Sierra MOT`d and Taxed.................... first thing i do when my wages clear, next weekend will be mostly smoking round in a saff again

Ambers FTW it is

Ran, will have a spy now dude

Sort of update,

my one off A4 IS 100% getting widebody`d, started buying bits, well to be fair, everything except front bumper!!

Sierra is getting paintwork finished this weekend,
bought Schutz sealer (already have gun )
moondust paint
laquer

gonna paint the lower halfs silver again, over textured schutz to match bumpers

would you lot disagree or agree?

dark lower half or silver?

i fcukin love a good project, roll on my lack of wages and punches in the side of the head from the wife when she finds out ive spent nearly £2000 on some doors and wings for the A4

wait till she sees whats on the shopping list for the 20v motor

Speak to dest on s2forum, he did have a spare rs4 bumper that came with his car. If you get the look with yours I think it would be better than a rs4 imo. Maybe a slight interior upgrade to match but the rest would be sorted. One thing you will require is some 19's to fill the arch's. 18's just don't cut it on them.

What spec you going for with the 20v? I need to finish my ur quattro off, its just waiting for a turbo and few odd's and ends, rebuilt engine's sitting in the engine bay and full s2 running gear now fitted

SCAT rods STD pistons, ARP bolts#
Knife edged crank
1000cc/min injectors, either this T4 i have or something silly big.
Jonus spec cams and big valve modified 7a head (JP@JNL)
VAG pencil coilpacks with red outer (picked these up yesterday)
Minhea mapped Motronic or DTA for Antislag
single mass flywheel convesion

Will just buy another S2/4 block and just build up around it and sell my good motor complete with wiring etc for a conversion, gotta be 1.5-2k worth as its just had a head rebuild etc

few people have bumpers but gonna have to wait till next month, spent enough lol

when the sierra goes it`ll pay for the paint on the A4, well looking forward to it now

Paint on the saff should be done this weekend then taxed on wednesday when pay comes in

new build threads on the way for A4, loads of tidying up i can do, i.e the Gredy gauges inside need propper pods made and not just rammed in the hole the vents used to live

be interesting to see what turbo you end up with, what clutch you going for?

will ~@ vrs said to stick a gt4094 on mine as its built for it but I don't know yet what I want (apart from rid of it as sick of spending money on something I can't drive)

i know all about spending cash on things you cant drive lol

flywheel will be 034 one with 60-2 pickup on it, i gotta use special flywheel as the A4 box doesnt have a removable spacer like S2/4
Clutch will be southbend stg4 or SACHS, decide nearer the ordering time

Either a AAN duel mass flywheel or a 3b flywheel will work fine with yours. My s2 cabriolet engine was an AAN so no spacer, duel mass, 6 speed box.

3b lightened

from what i've read just remember, if you go too light you lose torque but it revs easier.
