Default Ford Escort Mk6 Project (newbie)

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and I thought that I would share my little project I am working on.

I bought the car for £500 from a guy in Essex about 2 years ago. At the time I used it everyday so did what I could but now I have a Ford Focus 2.0 as a daily run around. This means the Escort is in the garage so I can do the job properly!

The plan is for it to be a solid car, with escort cosworth styling and a track car look/ feel.

Anyway i'm waffling lol. Hope you like it.............

When I bought it

Dashboard and carpet out

Seats out to sand and inspect rest of floor

Primer time after an age!!!!! of masking

Inside painted Black (dirty now lol)

Car done until garaged

Both cars sat on driveway awaiting trailer to take the Escort to the garage

And so the work really begins......

New purchases - MSD ignition, full samco hose set and Pro Alloy radiator and fan

Focus left on it's own at home :-(

Apart from a slight hiccup.......

It's been great fun to work on.

Other work done:

Koni suspension fitted,
Rocker cover painted black,
Fire extinguisher purchased.

more pics and updates to follow.

Any comments and suggestions welcome.

Thanks for looking

Welcome. Nice project. I'd leave the cossie kit off it, but it's your car. 2.0 zetec and sorted suspension ? If mine goes goes bang, a zetec is taking it's place.

Im happy running it on the 1.8 for now, engines arent my strong point. More a bodywork man. The suspension is from Koni. I had it on my old gti and it is really good I think.

Thanks for the welcomes

If it's stripped it will be good fun I've had thought's of removing the interior from mine, and I only have 1 car.

having the interior out is great fun but be warned. I went to the extreme and removed the heating. Using it as an everyday car with no heating is chilly with all that bare metal lol. Glad I have the focus tbh.

I did it to my XR4i before which got interesting when someone wanted a lift home from work.. The heater stayed though. There is something about hearing the stones on the road banging off the underside that feels great.
