Looking very nice with the bits back on it
Rally cars need to be bright colours IMO.
Another vote for a dark colour on the wheels from me Gun Metal grey

My m8 has built a MEV Sonic7,hes put a Fiat Uno 1.3 Turbo engine in the back.
MEV build quality is terrible,not a easy kit to build.
If he wants some info/help on the build my m8 is only in Gobowen,PM me and I'll pass on his number.

Still making progress "slowly". a lot of little jobs done and out of the way now...
Wired up my new heater, as the heated windscreen wasnt coping. So i have one of these in there...

Made some brackets to shift the side mounts further forwards... can reach the pedals tidy now
Clipped all wiring and fuel line throught the car
Fitted the ally tank and the ally surround.
heres a few pics that iv grabbed along the way

Yea the 205 is greggs... Poor thing does get neglected... I'm halfway through making electric pas for his. All underside has been wax oiled... So it's not posh under there

Seeing as Lee's a lazy/busy twat, i'll update it for him.
Got the engine back, had a bit of a mad rush to get it all ready in time, it didn't quite make the power it was built to do, but wasn't bad, he's still having issues with the distributor playing up and advancing it too far, i think?, but it managed to work on Saturday night, which was the cars first event out since its reincarnation!
Ended up with a 13th O/A out of 48 finishers.
Here's a couple of pics i took of it just before it went to the rolling road, the first one anyway
And one i found on british rally forum

I'm sure it's explained here somewhere, it was originally mk1 that was reshelled into a brand new mk3 shell that had been converted to RWD, because it took so many parts with it into the mk3 (isn't it something like rear axle and engine?!) it carried the ID across from the mk1.

I'll update this again, after the pinto got rebuilt, it did 2 event's and did this......... a certain rolling road tuner advanced it a bit too much and it spent most of a rally pinking, which we think may be the cause.............
After that, and the fact it was about 4 bhp, Lee lost all faith in Pinto's and decided something else was needed, so.......
after a bit of thought and weighing up of the options (and constant moither from me) he decided on...........
that's more like it
Only problem we came across today was the oil filter hitting the ARB, so a quick trip to tweek's was needed..........
More soon.

I popped round to see Lee yesterday and today, to see how he was getting on/hinder him.
Here's how it is now
Exhaust manifold on and rest of the exhaust "fabricated" from all kinds of bits, carnation one.......
However with just the 1 box in, it was too loud and would of caused issues with scrutineering...

And.......

Nicely done!! What rules are excluding the xe in the escort? By any chance are they saying ford engines are ford only and vauxhall engines in vauxhall cars only etc?

it is the CC has to be the same as whatever the largest capacity engine that was available in that body shell, so 4 door mk2's can only have 1600's.
Also, they must be in the correct configuration (ie, mk3 escort FWD). something along those lines anyway
Lee's not sure how they effect's him, as on the logbook it's a mk1, but the bodyshell may cause issues.

Does this nean my 2.9 4x4 will become eligible? Or are they stil banning the v6s? I would have thought this car would be 2 litre. As my dad was telling me when they brouht out the mk3 escort nt many people wanted them as they were now fwd so a coupl of companies brought kits out for which they let you use the mk1 base with a brand new mk3 shell and they were then a popular rally car. Some mk4 escorts had the conversions too

Still 4 cylinder and i believe a cap of 2l, although not positive on that.
This was built from new using a kit as mentioned, out of an original mk1 mexico that was damaged i believe, hence it has the mexico ID on it due to taking all the bits off and putting them on this.

Another road rally car in passionford!!!! Bit of a bummer with these new rule, some are starting to say they might get away with it till 2014 as its such a large change, so fingers crossed. Also, it states make and model, so, try and argue a ford escort is a ford escort, (the rule doesn't metion what mark, trim spec, door number etc) to keep it as a 2.0, I think a few others will try that too. How was the Meirion? Spoke to some friends of mine who were running in semi expert class, didn't like the event at all.
