Default zvh problems

just built a 1.8 zvh finished it all up wnet to start and it wont go, i brlive its a timing problem, i have tried to line it up using the woodruff key on the crank pulley to the middle notch that it casted into oil pump as this is the only mark i can see :\ ...... i have tried turning and it turns without knocking i havenot bent any valves as a compression test confirmed this, it was a 1.6 rs turbo and i bolted a ready converted running zvh bottonm end on with the correct tensioner etc etc....

any how....

when i turn the key there is spark and fuel i hear a few pops and bangs out of the exhaust sounds like it wants to go just will not catch,

i replaced the wire plug connector to the cps could i have put the wires on the wrong way that could e causing this?

anyone timed a 1.8 zvh and how did you do it? i am using the arrow on the cam and lining it to the hole on the head where all valves are shut, i am using a cvh crank pulley aswell and do not have a zetec pulley or cover to try and find marks from

the wires the wrong way round on the cps wont make it work at all so if your getting fuel and a spark its not that. does sound like a timing issue or firing order wrong, did the head come apart at all? cam change? was the car sat along time during the conversion? as it old petrol? we had probs caused buy petrol after sitting for about 4 months..

i though so the wires had been put on the wrong way initially but had no spark so i switched them back over and it sparked up nicely, the firing order is most definately correct its a efi and is numbered on the coil pack, the flywheel was also fitted correctly as it only goes on one way, i used a frst flywheel with a zetec cps and holder becuase the cvh one goes to far in and catches flywheel, the head came off and wasnt touched not taken apart anyway only exhasut ports cleaned for carbon using a wirewool, the ilet manifold and throttle remained as they were the turbo is spinning fine the car was only sitting for about 3 weeks since the rs turbo cvh went knocky and was removed and it had fresh petrol poured into it as it was low.....i have done several compression tests and all read 8.6bar which is a bit higher than i was expecting howeevr i did this for sake of checking valves were not bent..

Default starting it up

still trying to figure this one out getting on my nerves i tried adjusting the timing again went a bit forward a bit backward to see if it made any difference turned by hand every time to make sure it never seized up, still wont start pops and bangs every now and then jus wont run i beginning to think it might be other thing now, the car was parked for 3 weeks and was running before stripping the cvh engine out then bought a built zvh bottom end running and put my head on using a copper blanking plate and a head gasket, there is spark and fuel and as i said it pops like its going to start every now and then....anyone got a ofab ecu i could plug into it round the herts area?

it does coughs when i turn it over once evry now and then it is efi using rs turbo flywheel and a converted zvh bottom end which came out of a running motor, the cps connector plug got smashed so it was simply cut and replaced for the same connector plug of a mondeo same pin...dunno wat it could be mayb ecu now im convinced the edis works as i got spark fuel etc
