well with the obvious "rainy season" upon us I have hasd to squeeze the estate into the garage, to strip/prep for paint...
starting to look a little sorry state now and it will prob be in here for a few months now
and of course with the stripping comes the ....DREADED.... RUST !!!!
this is just typical of the "just do enough to get it through the MOT" school of welding.....
and this bit is just .... bloody awkward...
oh well just get on with it i suppose???
piece made up & tacked in....
now fully welded & ground down ready for filler/primer....
also welded up the lock/wiper/washer in the tailgate and started to smooth it all in....
Getting There..???
Enjoy,
Charlie

spent tonight repairing the rust damage to the chassis shown earlier. I did not realize how bloody difficult grinding/welding is upside down in a little garage with very little height on the axle stands !!!!...oh well its deffo a "home-brew" car hahahaha...
anyways gone from this...
to this...
so its hardly been a wasted evening...
the sight that greeted me underneath the chassis rail, I suppose moisture got inbetween the chassis rails in the double thickness area....
with the outer steel removed, the inner leg was surprisingly not too bad...
cut the little bit of rust away and made a new repar section for the inner leg...
then welded and prepped, ready for the outer leg to be added...
odd shaped bit of metal ?????
now folded and tacked into shape ???
and now all welded into place..
needs a lot of dressing with the wheel but I'm bloody Knackered tonight so it will have to wait (i,m getting TOO OLD for this carry on !!!)
Enjoy,
Charlie

Now I have the car on the dollies, work can recommence. I suppose theres some truth in things have to get worse before they can get better???
well lets have a look under this "excellent" piece of MoT welding shall we...
Hmmm NO SURPRISES here then??.... all 3 layers damaged, inner sill, mid sill & of course the outer too...
After all the rot was cut out & a bit of cleaning up/ etch primer...
made a pice to patch then inner sill just an awkward place to get at properly.....
partly dressed....
Trial fit of the outer sill...
Enough for tonight so covered everything in etch primer, hopefully get the section of middle sill in tomorrow....
Enjoy,

Well yet another night spent on this corner but at least its nearly there now!!!!...at last !!!!
started with replacement of the section of "mid-sill" which is sandwiched between the inner & outer sills...
once again blasted it all in etch primer as it wont ever be seen again ( hopefully) !!!
Then Onto the outer sill which was a real pleasure as you can see something for your efforts at last....
just to fill/prime/prep now...
Then I just couldnt resist resting the S2 kit against it....
quite pleased with this bit ....hahahahaha...
Enjoy,

this is tending to be my favourite plan too so far, perhaps if I aquire a quad headlamp kit to do those black too... I think "Jonesy's" ????? Black & red estate on here is an ace mix of colour & black !!!!!
But sadly I have another FEW weeks of prep to do yet.....
Cheers,
Charlie
