Yep their allycats 13". They came off they my friends dad rally car in the 80's. Then sat in his garden. It took me hours sitting in front of the TV with loads of grade of wet and dry and metal polish. To get them back looking good. When there rest of the car done, I'll give them another going. To get them spot on

Just thinking about brakes.

My friend has some 13 inch allycats, he's doing a sierra rear disc conversion on his Atlas axle - I don't know if they will fit?

I've been look at it's going to very close. I'm going to roll the arches and if I need to I'll try and mill something off the inside off the wheels. I know the guy at Julian Godfrey's so they will help me out with that. And do some of their magic on the engine.
Thank for your advice. Please keep it come, if you see anything I mite of miss.

Well, I don't think they will fit, I am into Sierra's and you can't fit 13inch wheels over rear disc Sierra's so lets hope you get round it somehow....I should tell my friend really

Sorry I see what you mean. They do fit. When you 220 mm disc, I would think the sierra's are bigger. It a common mod in escorts and still run 13"

Sierra's with discs at rear IIRC have ABS brakes and these ones feature the same brake size than XR4i all around. 13" wont' fit over the front brakes but rear ones should fit no problem.

I stand corrected, I was thinking 14 inch was as small as possible, but actually to do with the front rather than the rear That'll teach me for opening my un-educated mouth!

It's actually possible it was the other way around. All Sierra's with ABS had the so called "big brakes". I remember this because at least in Finland if you wan't to MOT a Sierra with turbo with more than ~120 bhp it's advisable to find a one with ABS because this had the bigger brakes at front.

I seem to recall someone saying you can freeze it off, possibly liquid nitrogen? I think you can buy it by the bottle. Hope this helps.

Ben.

Nice work. Before i got my s2 rst treated and painted underneath, i took the car to a local powdercoaters and got him to shotblast the whole underside and then etch prime it. Regretted it at first because it give me the realisation of how much welding the car needed, but in hindsite it was the best thing for the car. Cleaner finish to the underside and a cleaner base for my body man to treat and paint it. Only cost Ł110!!

Infact my bodyman converted a 4dr mk1 escort to a 2 dr and spent 3 days prepping the underside for paint. He has now took on another 4dr-2dr conversion and is taking it to the same guy as me to get it blasted, before treating and painting it!!!

Good luck anyway mate!!

I did not know that blasting gets off under seal! I was going to get it blasted before bodywork and paint. ha ha sent 2 days so far, so I'll stop and pop it on a trailer and off to the blasters

May I ask you to please copy/paste the link below on to your own threads, then to sign a petition (proper government site, no con and no cost), to Re-introduce a 30 year rolling vehicle excise duty exemption scheme, for classic vehicles. For too long now the tax exemption of classic cars has been frozen, to only apply to those manufactured before 1973. History did not simply stop in 1972. These are not cars which are driven everyday but rather on sunny weekends, to attend enthusiast shows etc.. It is vitally important that we help to preserve this important part of British motoring history.
