Hi all,

I have just rescued a couple of 1988 XR 4X4s, one of which was a recent runner?
The other has been sat for several years.

I have tried to get the recent runner going but not having much luck. I have the Haynes manual for guidance and found the fuel pump relay was missing and fitted a generic relay, which has got the fuel pump running. It would also seem the Injector relay is missing?

The engine turns over, I have a spark and it seems to try, but only with "start pilot"

I think the fault is in the injection system, but need to know where to start looking first.

I have done the usual things before trying to start the car, fresh fuel, oil and checked the water system, I also ensured the camshafts were well oiled before starting.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Wecome to the site and all the best with the cars one of the old tricks iv done in the past is pull a plug out and put a bit of fuel in the bore and put the plug back in and hit the key some times that one fire up can sort it but i bet you have tryed this
