can you sell that turbo on? and get yourself a propper GT30 with no wastegate? and then run an external one.??

this will help greatly in boost control and delivery,

then id need to get new downpipe etc new manifold then it just spirals out of control money wise

ill be happy enough once it sorted and running 2.0bar all the way with this turbo. should still do near 500hp anyway

Lots of talk of pump failings seems to be a bit of every thing, nose flex on the crank to many revs,? Or just luck!

ive seen a black top oil pump fail with a 6900 rev limiter and only pulled to 330hp on the dyno befor the oil presure gauge started flashing very luckly tho he got it just in time only needed a clean out and a new oil pump even the shells showed no sign of damage

he was running an underdrive pully kit that was put down to the problem. after rebuild/fitting standard pully it ran fine up to 430hp with a 7200 rev limit

Whats your spec bigad??

Mine in bits again at the min, just ordered a billet pump as i want to rev it to 8k now,
And when we uped the boost, we got to 1.7 bar-586bhp/520lbs and we were getting really bad valve float so having it modded by ian howel now to use double valve spring, then take it up to 2-2.5 bar and rev it out to 8k and see what happens

Very cool car that!

Oil pump issues will always been a concern, the only pattern seems to be high revs with big boost eats oil pumps (including billet gears!), though Blacktops seem a lot better than Silvertops.

Its always going to be a worry yes, but i run an inline turbo filter, so if it does go lets just hope its a case off a good clean and new bearings and new pump then at least its not going to be that expensive hopfully it obviously is a blacktop based oil pump so just cross fingers,

After speakng to ian howel he said the ones hes known to break up have always been one where they havnt balanced the bottom end or changed pullys..

Just have to wait and see,
Also tempted to fit a accusump... But! Dont want the engine pump to fail and just be relying on the accusump while unknowing, if that makes sense?

thats a good idea!!
i run a blitz id3 boost controler, i could wire somthing into that so that it would CUT BOOST if pressure failed

it wouldn't take long for that to build up pressure really.
along those lines, best to fit a relay to cut out the power to ecu if pressure is too low. have an override from ignition feed so when you're cranking it powers the relay, until you let off the starter and the feed would come through the pressure switch to relay.
easy to make something like that work.

some oil pumps are lazy so would be cranking for a wile befor it starts lol. my kms ecu has an oil presure input so i can set parameters

like any think over 800rpm and under 12psi presure will cut coil ect

i can also run a cool display like this one

My dta has oil pressure input too and i also have a stack dash, but ratyer than cut the coil and loose all power, i think id sooner let the blitz just cut all boost so if im "on it" and suddenly loose boost i know about it,
Also this would be good incase of any oil surge,
I also have a boost cut set in my blitz if my water temps exceed 108 degs (i run a 72 deg stat on mine now)

Glad your still alive after what happened!

I rekon i should pull maybe 620-650 somwhere in mine,
And maybe towards 700 when i use vp import

Not sure if I'd want just the boost to cut out, engine revs alone will kill an engine with no oil circulating!

I'd love to see a Zetec push that. I know of a 2.3 stroker crank, Nikisil linered, big spec GT35 turbo Zetec being built that's aiming for that kind of power.

Mine's in front of me and beeps and flashes when it drops. I still don't think that's enough!

External oil pump is next...or a Blacktop!

Im not qoting those figures lol, but it did make 401@12psi
545@1.5 bar
586@1.7 bar with valve float...
So carry on to 2.5 bar and add some vp import fuel so i can still get a bit of advance timing in on top end then...... Thats if the engine will hold 2.5 bar!

Knowing my luck the crank will drop straight thru the sump

i have some spare inputs to ecu and could program one for that function, just need to calibrate a pressure sensor for it.
at least i have a blacktop to begin with, settles me a little.
some big figures around for power on here, i'd love to have something to handle it all.

I saw the car the other day whilst up at the garage. The spec has been changed slightly, he's got a billet oil pump now, he bought my GGR ported head and has had some work done it it. There is a rumour of a turbo change too. I'm sure he will post soon on any updates. I will text him soon and get him to update.

little update,
as jon said, i bought his GGR head off him (well... bought when i pay him lol )
and sent to ian howel for double valve spring conversion,
still waiting for that to come back,

billet oil pump to go in it,
and sold my GT35 turbo in favour of a GTX30 turbo, and changing injectors for some injector dynamics 1200 cc

hopefully next dyno session will break 600
