Default TNTRacing - XRCosworth

Thought it was about time i put up some info on us and the car.
The car is a mk1 sierra xr4x4 running a cosworth yb, it is owned by myself and my mate Alan. We built it to compete in Time Attack. We did 2 seasons in Time Attack with our old track car a xr4x4 2.8 janspeed turbo.

This was the car when we bought it.

Some pics of th build

original front brakes changed for scorpio cosworth brakes. Until new ones were ready

Alan stripping the 205 block ready for the rebuild

This is a home build with advice and support from Gordon at StreetRacers.

Then the first build of the engine.

All was going well for the engine to be built ready for ford fair last year.
Then on the first turn of the key of the freshly built engine water pissed out the exhaust housing.....
Stripped it all down again to find it had blown a small hole in bore 4

This did not go down well. So we stripped it all back down and had that bore sleeved, built it back up again and tried again.
1st road test and yep..water pissing out again...this time bore 3....1st block scrapped.

Bought a 2nd block and while it was away being honed and decked i had a phone call saying the guy had found some hairline cracks between the water jackets.....2nd block scrapped.

By this time we were well pissed off and fed up so took a couple of months to decide what to do.....

A 200 block was then sourced, bought, bored, honed and decked and the 3rd rebuild started. Finally got the car running last november.

We then took the car to Bedford in February for its first test and a good day it was.

This is what she was making

Before a fluck accident caused this...... A week before RS Regional day at santa pod.

The only option at this point was to make the old T4 turbo that we had on our V6 janspeed xr4x4 fit the cossie lomp. Until we were in a postion to get the new turbo.

The new turbo.

Avo adjustable shocks, rebuilt and uprated by Avo about 3yrs ago with Avo springs. We would like to switch to coilovers but it's not that simple. My mate Alan who is co-owner and the driver in Time Attack likes a car set up to suit his driving style and it took us a year to get the last car set up as he wanted. So to switch now without the ability to do a lot of testing with different set ups would just cause a lot of hassle.

Car looked good at the weekend what was the problem with it? We never even got out, somehow the ECU was spiked when the scrutineers tested the emergency cut off and that was our weekend over before it even started, gutted.

Gutted for you mate, saw Warrens car in the paddock and wondered why it was on the trailer.
She keeps on spitting water out the header tank, inspite of recently having a head skim, MLS headgasket, arp nut and stud kit fitted following the head lifting whilst on the dyno at APT.
