been taking a break for a while so thought it time to puta thread up,plan is to convert a 1600 gl auto mk3 2dr estate to manual xr3i, using a running donor car thats just out of mot , got some decent bits on it koni's full recaro, azev A's,
for a mk3 theres not much welding to just avery small hole in the d/s footwell and a rear sill corner where it attaches to the arch, it is a gl so needs chrome trim removed around windows , going to paint it black as pre the xr's, its only getting a mk4 interior as cant afford a nice mk3 one, crazy prices for dashboards etc
what do you think good and bad

your biased though but yeah it would, got new white lower fogs for it , vinyl kits are easy come by
its just the window rims, they have the chrome trim pegs , was gonna grind them off and weld em up then paint the area black like the xr, but suppose it wouldnt look to bad with the black rim and the 16i vinyls

why you putting the mk4 dash in,it already has the mk3 one?

yeah it was for sale and i was going to finish my combi, but i prefer mk3's so thats whats on the cards , i've a mk 3 an 4 estate and a mk4 combi too but think ill sell the combi and use the mk4 parts from blue estate in the mk4 ,
read on the rare mk3 thread on series one .com that gl estates are rare , not going to change it too much just ford only parts standard looking except for alloys an xr front chin spoiler

the blue one is just needing tidied up no welding , the mk3 dash is plit to bits and beyond repair tbh
sunroofs ok though it doesnt leak

still got a mk3 estate rwd,mine going rs1600i style & i have the combi panel's to put in

cool a mk3 combi rwd rs1600i, lots of inspiration, should make a great car , what engines in it,
do like a combi but its mk4 so
estate needs converted to manual though so that will be first job just need to find a local mk3 box

another yb would be the way to go , all the hard work has been done done
yeah was going to sell it but there hard to come by up the this end and i was on the look out for a project , will post pics of manual conversion when i get started
