i have a mk4 with 16k miles on it.
i'm gonna do it up so its a nice motor but i need advice.
firstly i need advice on fitting a mk5 rs2000 engine,
-what engine mount will i need?
-can i convert a rs2000 gearbox to fit a mk4?
-will a lsd fit in a mk5 gearbox?
-any other advice on fitting rads etc etc........

secondly i want power steering fitted.
-where can i get a rack?
-can you still get the mobility car power steering racks new?

thirdly de-locking and de-handling.
-how to open boot once de-locked?
-i thought about moving the petrol cap and smoothing that over, any ideas??
-de-handling with switches under mirrors
-de-side repeatering, using repeaters on mirrors.

also what paintjob?
-need idea's on paint job, ie: plain colour/ two tone/ or something different like airbrushed or ????????
i will be doing most of the work myself.

If its any help to you mate I remember an article in Fast Ford a while back where a boy fitted a Mk5 RS2000 motor in a mk2 Orion (which is the same engine bay as yours) you could possibly order it up from them? If i remember correctly it was quite straightforward to get it in. I know the zetecs are easy to put it but not quite so sure with the I4 engine.

Just fit a CVH turbo of a Zetec 1800. Will be a hundred times easier. The I4 isnt impossible, but you'll need to get some special mounts mad up


Again, not impossible (nothing is ) but why do you need PAS on a Mk4? Even people running 17s dont bother

Solenoids are your friends. Get some from Maplin And some switches from various Ford breakers. Make linkages etc. This will be very easy in comparison to fitting different engines. So if in all honesty you cant do any of this, dont attempt the engines.

Plain colous and smooth lines work best IMO. Airbrushing and 2 tones are just crap
