Thanks.
I myself I'm not a big fan of the engine paint but I'm already used to it + it kinda suits the "semi-rat" theme if that's how I can call it.
With future engine updates that probably are going to happen at some point I'm going to paint things black.

Didn't pass MOT yesterday, brakes were rear balanced (braking test on asphalt -> rear tires locked up before front) and two rubber bushes (dunno if this is correct term in english) at the points where anti roll bar and suspension arms join were too soft.
-EDIT- Also forgot to add, oil dipstick wasn't properly in it's place when I got back home and it had sprayed some of the oil out. I guess it's better to check that the breather pipes aren't blocked or anything.

Ok job is now in a state where the next step is a test drive and probably tomorrow again to the MOT.
Old head bolt was good tool for installing bushes:

Brakes seem to work fine now, front locks up nicely when I want.
Oh, also it seems that even this car already has the bigger XR4i brakes and antirollbar at front.

Bucket seat installed & muffler replaced with straight pipe. Sounds mental enough. Reminds me of the early 90's A-group rally cars.

Well that joy didn't last too long. In mid of 4th gear pull stopped pulling and started to run on 2-cylinders only. No compression in 1 or 2 cylinder, most probably a headgasket problem. Not expensive to fix but I'm pissed as hell and not so interested of yet again spending my weekend on a job like this.

Just ordered a 2.0mm thick Cometic Cosworth headgasket and if I'm lucky it will arrive this friday already and car is soon back in driving condition.
I just wanted to relax and have few beers next weekend but I guess some higher power had other plans for me yet again.

Few beers on the job made this friday fly.
Yeah I'm pretty sure that the headgasket is faulty.
Also, I'm starting to be pretty happy because it seems that this engine is nothing but stock! Pistons have combustion chamber in them so the CR is lower than stock. I would be very interested knowing what pistons these actually are, they don't look like machined stock pistons because in middle they have these "marks" that I assume are cast marks.
Head is tuned also. Intake ports are clearly ported and cam isn't stock either because it seems like it has as much lift than my old head from daily driver Sierra had which is Pipercams 134. Cam profile is a bit different but I guess it is somewhere with similar spec to the Pipercam / Burton 134 cams.
Painted valve cover and intake manifold black.
Tomorrow in plans is to get everything installed again.

Thanks. I know there are few mad mans with turbo'd 8V DOHC engines, but it's not so popular. But possible yes.
Just can't really give you any proper advice cause I've never even owned anything but Pinto engined Sierras.

On the road again. Quite noticeable amount of blue smoke during boost, I guess it is the turbo or maybe breather system should be upgraded somehow.
And then some pictures, I think painting the valvecover and intake manifold really transfered the looks of the engine bay. Even with the few bits still having the pukepaint it looks quite good already.
Some other pictures too:
Updated the first post to show the current state.

Yeah do as you wish, nothing is stopping you from taking the not so usualy route but I guess Turboing Pinto is much less of a hassle.
I have been driving this car for pretty much the whole day. Works good and I'm enjoying.
Tho lol it scared me ones today again. Picked a friend cause he wanted a passenger ride and we drove maybe 5 minutes and car started to jerk / feel weird. Stopped to the side of the road and did a quick check didn't see anything weird so started car again. Then it came quite clear that there was something faulty around the Turbosmart / wastegate area because at WOT boost suddenly launched to +1 bar and turbo chattered like hell! Sounded mint but a bit too risky since the EEC-IV can't keep up. Pulled to the side of the road again the hose connecting from turbo to the Turbosmart had softened loose and was disconnected.Good thing I had some zip-ties with me so fixed it with them and car has been running nicely after that.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
hi i have recently posted a build of my sierra pinto turbo i am currently in the process of tuning the engine
i have a t3 cosworth turbo blowing through a coswort 4x4 intercooler then going into a carberator
i am changing this to the injection system and changing the manual fuel pump to an electric one so i can regulate the fuel as it is not holding boost
i am running on a 4x4 cosworth radiator

Low compression pistons (combustion chamber "bowls")
Some mild headwork, ported intake and maybe exhaust too, dont have any fact on this but the intake side is clearly modified.
Some kind of a cam, maybe Burton 134 or similar, but not sure could be stock cam too.
Cometic Cosworth 2.0mm multi-layer head gasket.
Cossie Turbo & Intercooler.
EEC-IV with 332cc SMP D17208A injectors.
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator + tweaked air flow meter.
Approx little over 0.8bar of boost.
I guess I could take some pictures of the upper waterhose tomorrow and post them.
It was.I can't even guess how much money already has sunk in to this after the bought, tho car's value has increased a lot also. Still cheap comparing to the YB builds I guess.

are you running manual fuel pump?
i came across cosworth pistonheads today and bought them i will first have to find out what compression my car has and see from there whether to change the pistons
what bhp are you running atm?

Fuel pump is some electric injection "high pressure" fuel pump. Could be stock iS pump but I'm not sure it at least looks a bit different from the other iS pumps I've seen.
Can't say anything sure about the bhp since it's never been on the rollers but ~220 bhp could be very much possible with the current head.

Oh for fooks sake. Quite of a spectacular brake up today.
Was doing a long pull in 5th gear and suddenly block heater removed itself from the block and all coolant water was shot to the exhaust manifold.
Quite of a sight probably, old Sierra going past +200km/h and a following behind such a thick smoke that you can't even see thru it.

No compression in first cylinder.
Was told that using metallic Cometic gasket was a mistake, gasket like this would require block and head faces properly machined, so they really are properly flat.
Was also told that GroupA Cossie gasket should do the job so I'm going to order one. If it brakes third time I'm going to give up for the current driving season and do something over the winter. Or sell this bastard but I doubt that even tho motivation currently is zero.
Fu*k me head coming off again.

I will at some point. But this is really frustrating, weather is getting more and more wet and cold as I write this and originally I was supposed to have this on the road at least a month ago.
It's not like I enjoy being under the bonnet all the time.
