Haha, I think I've said this before but should definitely keep it looking like the granpas ride, it's a wicked sleeper.

Looking at the pics of the car now you would never know it had a cossie yb under the bonnet.

Cheers lads,
As much as i kinda like the sleeper look, It's not staying.
It might be on the road for a short time with the plastic bumpers but its definatly getting the bumpers, skirts and a 4x4 bonnet. The chances are it will be getting a full paintjob over next winter as the paintwork is good but its 24ish years old so not perfect... More money

Sits quite high don't it?

Where's the front grill?

If you do decide to go for a full outer repaint in red I know just the guy for the job...

its settling down a bit, should be fine. its sitting higher on the passenger side at the mo but i guess thats because the suspension geometry is all over the place. I'll have to get the string out and set it up a bit.
Front grile is still upstairs in the office nice and safe, don't want to scratch it while im working in the engine bay.

Cheers Jon,

No its not running yet. Spent Saturday prepping the Clio for a rally at Abingdon next weekend, then i had to cut the hedge and do a few bit of plumbing on Sunday.
I've managed to do a few little bits though.

Hydraulic clutch is bled up and working, can't believe how light it is

Cleaned and painted the rear ARB with the new droplinks.
I will be upgrading to an escos one at some point but thought i would put it together as is at the moment.

plumbed and wired in the boost control solenoid

Name: 20140525_114048_zps126a182a.jpg
Views: 185
Size: 62.8 KB

tidied up the wiring to the coil

Name: 20140525_114337_zps66d49a16.jpg
Views: 209
Size: 58.1 KB

and the gauge holder had got a bit scratched while it was floating around the garage so i gave it a coat of crackle black.

Accelerator and speedo cables are fitted, washer bottle has been swapped for a cossie one that clears the air filter, and the filter has been cleaned and reoiled.

Also got the battery back on. had a few issues as i had somehow lost the excitation feed to the alternator but that's sorted now. ABS seems to be working fine since that's been rewired. Everything else looks good apart from i seem to have lost the wire and plug for the oil pressure switch it will be hidden behind something somewhere

Spent some time on prepping the boot spoiler today...

Many coats of primer, flatting, priming, flatting...
Decided to put alittle left over red on it to cover the primer...
I've flatted it again, so after work tomorrow it should be ok to hit it with the guns...

Still bumpers and side skirts to do...
Get the spoiler done, then it's time to freshen up the Hocks...

Graham's been round tonight and caught me flatting the spoiler again...
There was a couple of bits I wasn't happy with... Nowt really, but I've started flatting again with 800... Wants alittle more flatting and will paint it again after work tomorrow...
Gun finish is great, just had a couple of areas where the primers sunk allowing me to see the odd prepping mark under the paint...
It's no big deal, atleast it'll be super flat after the next hit...

Well she runs at last! Put all the fluids etc in yesterday and it started first turn of the key
The brakes took a fair bit of bleeding but got there in the end,
Got a small oil leak to fix from the breather oil return. No problem just a pain in the ass.
The biggest problem is the clutch won't disengage hydro clutch is working perfectly but the clutch doesnt even try to release. I think its by fault for either somehow fitting the clutch plate back to front, or maybe its because I didnt grease the input shaft. Either way it looks like the box is coming back out

Well the car is pretty much mechanically complete
Turns out i had a bit of a brain fart when i fitted the clutch and put the friction plate in back to front
anyway thats all sorted now, so if i put the wheels on and drop it off the stands it will drive
but I'm not doing that because ive just ordered a set of gaz golds
should be here tomorrow or thursday so first drive this weekend hopefully.

Tonight I've painted the lip on the spoiler satin black.
I scotched the lip, edging taped down yet groove, put some blue tape which is less sticky over the edging tape. Then masked and covered the rest with news paper.
During painting the lip...

Needs a light flat and polish one fitted to the bootlid.
But I'm pretty please with the finish out of the gun.
Bumpers and side skirts to do before Fordfair...
