Small update,

I had a Spec R alloy strut brace hanging around which the to mounting ends parts are knackered on, so with the new strut tops the ends were useless anyway so I made a new pair specifically for my top mounts out of 5mm plate and bolt straight through into the adjustable top mounts, nice and easy

Been getting all the snag's on the front end done and got all the panels joins seam sealed up to look a bit original, fingers crossed it'll be primed and painted by the end of the month.

I've spent a lot of time trying to get the area around the back of the head light to look original, I did thick about going the smoothed route but I like the look of the standard messy painted on sealer, it's looks more original .

Also been making a car trolley that bolts to the underside to get it off the spit and ready for when it goes out for paint, i'll get pic s of that up in a few days

more soon.

Well seen as the underside is now all done I made up a car trolley so as I can get the car off the spit and mobile, took a few hours to knock up but works a treat

Go the wheels 150mm rated at 160kg each from a local Tool Station, 2 have a brake, Ł20 for all four .

Changed the 1 tie bar front to back to 2 just to add a bit more strength.

Was nice to get it out of the garage, 1st time in 4 years

Well after lots of messing about I finally have paint on the engine bay, We did the front panel at the same time to make it easier for us with maskin up etc, I'm really happy with how it's turned out, especially the sealer areas around the headlight bezels the back and corners behind them and the bulkhead/under scuttle panel area.

Going to get the wiring loom in and fitted before going for paint as it'll be less hassle trying not to scratch the outside.

Anyway, pics

Since the bay was done I have been to see the painter about getting the car in, he’s just finished doing a full colour change on his Cossie bubble arch Mk1 Escort so just waiting for him to get it all back together before mine goes in.

With my car using a full Sierra loom I have ended up with a few extra switches, Dial/cluster dimmer and Intermittent wiper speed, also the standard roof clock no longer fits due to the cage but the Sierra has the clock in the centre of the dash.

So this is what I’ve ended up with
The dash already had a hole drilled for an old immobiliser which was the same size as the switch thickness so all good

And ended up like this

Size: 177.0 KB
Name: CIMG5060_zpsl3m0bcpc.jpg

And I mananged to find a nice useful spot for the Sierra clock

Love the attention to detail and the inside/bay finish pictures are brill.

So you decided to stay the earlier spec on the outside or are you get the 90 spec stuff done as well so you can switch between them if you want?

(off topic but why is it 90 percent of pics taken inside spray shops always look like its snowing )
