Oldest Rally Sierra. Time for some tlc
Thanks al for the continued encouragement.
Today, was messing with the slave cylinder on the clutch to get the rod the right length.
Once adjusted it started doing it's job again.
It will need doing when I've been running around for awhile and worked out the new bite point.
The biggest thing with hydraulic clutches is not over doing it.
Once it is working pushing the pedal any more is just pushing the arm and lever into the coverplate.
On the underside of the clutch pedal is an adjustable T bar that stops the pedal traveling any further than it needs to.
It is great because once set you just stamp on the pedal like it is a switch.
Then it was time for a little milestone along the rebuild road.
The mechanical work is all but done.
Time to put her boots on (an old set) and let her touch the ground again.

Then it was time to drop her.

It was very strange having her on the floor again (ooh err ).
I have got used to her being taller than me for most of this year.
Now I have to reach down to work on her
She'll come back up a bit when she gets a set of gravel boots and her susspenders pulled up.

I put new covering on my comfy drivers seat the other day.
It is pretty much the same as the passengers, but I didn't show many pics of the other one being put together.
So here (for anyone sad enough to be interested) is it being covered.
First up the back was stuck on.

Then, as I like a little comfort, my back support was covered.

Then the seat base, with my little cushion was covered.

And then fitted.

Then the sides were covered.

And extra covers for the harness holes were added.

I added two strips down the arms to help stop them wearing out.

And then finally the old cobra cover was stuck on in the centre.

Then back at the unit I got stuck in with the spray paper and masking tape.

Now comes the fun of sanding.

Cheers guys.
Saturdays child was fair of face, as he spent the day sanding a bloody car.
Well, at least the car is sort of flat now.
After the sanding, I put a quick once over with grey primer.
which only highlighted all the dips and bumps again.
Still, she's a 27yr old rallycar. she will never be 'smooth'

sweet car there, love it! Its nice to see it being rebuilt to that standard. Ive been following this thread for months and gives me lots of inspiration for my project. Keep up with the good work, cheers, nathan.
Just to let Those following hyacynths rebuild, It is still ongoing.
At present I am sanding and filling, so hardly photo worthy
When she has some paint on her I'll post some more pics.

Finally.
Due to a load of distractions, xmas, new year, becoming a grandad
That sort of thing, it has been hard to get any time in on the car.
Finally though I have been able to get going again.
she now has most of her bits coated in white, doors bonnet hatch etc.
And a base coat on her.

Over the next few weeks I am hoping to have her painted and all panels/shuts back on.
Famous last words.

Are you registered on the British Rally Forums Baz?
There's a thread here: http://www.britishrally.co.uk/forum/...32&start=12120
I think there might be a few pictures of your car in there. It's several million pages long I'm afraid though! I think in the order of page 550-600 will probably see you finding some pictures though.
I'll leave searching through the other 1000 pages to you though mate

Hi guys, thanks for the continuing encouragement.
@massive, Yes I am registered on there.
I started a thread there awhile ago asking for additional info about the car.
I have been through that thread about the old cars, it was only a few hundred pages when I looked.
I did get some pics of her from it though.
Not a great deal to report at the mo.
I'm still painting and sanding between caots,
but I have to pick days when it isn't too cold for the paint.
We're getting there though.

Such a great car to see, the widebody does it, abd its history, and just all the details from the past! To bad the bda isnt in it anymore, like the yb a very good powerplant, but, i like the sceam of the bda far more than the yb.
I recenty saw an yb on ebay or something, but youll have to re morgage your house if you want one
I wished my xr4 will be a little bit as cool as yours, im thinking of fitting small headlamps with the cossiegrille, and my cossie bonnet, and keep using the xr4i front bumper in grey, looks good on the caspian blue body!

@cossiegaz, Not decided yet on the livery. It's looking like it probably will happen, but I need to secure long term storage first.
Right, not much of an update as in the cold all I have been doing is nipping in and painting panels and closures.
I did manage to pop down during the day yesterday, so I took a few pics without flash and in daylight.

Doors and bumpers will be finished and on soon, so she will look like a car again.

Hi all, Just a quick update to let you know that all has not completely stopped on the old girl.
I have finally managed (now it's a tad warmer) to get the last of the painting done.

Over the next few weeks all the panels will get bolted back in place and then the inside can have a clean and the seats back in, etc.
I'll keep the thread a bit more updated, now that there is the chance of the pics being more than just assorted car panels painted white.
