this did occur to me, I have done some research and found most failures are due to excessive heat. so I will be fitting a temp sensor in both G/B and rear diff. then coolers if needed. also when she is mapped ill have torque limited to 200-240nm until I can afford the sequential dog box I want.

I fitted the new twin headlights today and wow they transform the car. I also removed most of the A/C, just two hoses sticking out of the bulkhead now.

Mmmm would it be possible to show the reg of the car as the quality and detail of the build is begining to worry me so should like to avoid it when it is on the road.

fairplay for using a 4x4 pal but even if you manage to keep check of the temp theyre still not gonna last long, IMO id use a frs front box or at least get the gears frozen or shot peened, and get a decent lsd, same for the rear diff, as theyre really weak even with standard power, If your spending quite a wad on this i suggest doing things properlly as itll only come back on you in the long run.
I know lads that spend Shit loads on engines with out doing other estentials properlly.

Bit harsh that, some constructive feedback would have aided more in this situation I think. Example...
Good upgrade on the brakes.
The dash looks proper wank mate and god forbid you crash and a limb hits the thing.
Glad you've moved the seat belt fixing points though, as that would have hurt.

.
In the trade we call that type of feedback a shit sandwich, allows the recipient to feel all warm at the positives you have pointed out and managing to hide the negative shit feedback in the middle.
Nuff luv! Kev.

no you need a 3mm spacer between the caliper and hub. As seen here.

well as I am picking up the engine at the weekend I thought I would go and buy the paint for the engine bay. I had a rattle can made up at the same time to do the lights.
so electric fan heater in the garage to get it nice a warm. leaving the door ajar to stop me dying from the fumes. wearing the correct PPE.
first, as always I took them apart. Then sanded them down with some 600 to give them a nice key.
Then a good clean with gun wash thinners and hung them up. Ready for the plastic primer.
15mins later they were ready for the colour.
5 or 6 thin coats done the job nicely.
they are now curing over night, awaiting a quick going over with some 1500. but that for tomorrow night.
I love the colour.

started to put it back together
after having to change the sump, oil pump and water pump It finally fit without hitting anything.
and lots of grinding.
I have been waiting 2 weeks for my new intercooler to come. what a prick.

Have you seen one done already? For comparison. this project for me is about learning seeing what I can do both mechanically and in terms of body work. I need Air flow through my engine bay. And short of spending more money on a bonnet that has already been done. XR, RS S2, FRS, VTR. Plus if it looks shit i can change it.

Yeah i agree about the scooby vent, i just think it would look a bit chav. You can fit vents that are more subtle and still give good airflow round the engine. I have 2 different bonnets for mine.
One with an astra gte vent in.. which is pretty subtle.
And one with saph cossie 4x4 vents in, which is not on the car yet.
