Right Ive left this alone for a while as the wife has been using it to drop the kids off at school etc etc but thats all about to change.

Ill get some updated pics as its a lot cleeaner now than it was but so far

Mongoose Cat back system with outrolled.
Mongoose Decat

Ive ordered my Autospecialists CAIS in carbon with the red pipes as im going red under the bonnet.

I also need to order Downpipe and somehow fit it then get my intercooler and fit it for the start of next month as its going off to JAmsport for.

RS injectors and remap.

Theres someone on the STOC running 330BHP with their setup so thats the one for me to kick things off.

Spoke to Matt today and seems like a Top Guy so im booking in tommorow for start of March to take up their current offer!

Got to get it stage 3 before it goes to them though.

Also talk of an RS turbo so watch this space lol.

Well done chris, What have you done.

I tried to fit my Downpipe sunday... What a nightmare. 2 bolts out in seconds third one (the top one) stuck solid.

Whatever I did it would not budge!

Thought i would give up and put it back together only for the bottom bolt not to go in true and start threading on the way back in.

So im in all sorts of mess now.

Im sure I will get it sorted though.

The rest of sunday was better.

Ordered the 3 new downpipe to turbo copper plated bolts so they don't get stuck in like all the older ones do.

Also the gasket.

£17 quid all in!

anyone else think thats a bit pricy . Oh well!

What's the KAM fuse??

Interested in this project and how it progresses... are you going to risk the block with big power, or are you just gonna stay tried and tested with it??

Cheers,
Grant

Cheers,
Grant

It's the fuse for the keep alive memory, which controls the learning features of the ECU. Totally pointless pulling it anyway as the ECU just resets to base setting before learning your driving style etc, something which it is constantly adjusting so makes no difference pulling it or not.

Yes Grant I am going to risk the block and if the the liner cracks I will be upgrading.

I really like the car so I am definitely going to be keeping it for a while.

If I get to 370bhp and its bottom end time then I will be more than happy.

Theres a lot to do though before then.

I thought that was expensive then seen how much injectors actually are lol.

Not a bad price inc labour and remap.

Be good to hear what you think of it when the work is done.

Cracking car as well

I couldn't believe how the Cais made more pops and bangs from the exhaust.

Cant wait for the noise with the down pipe. It sounds pretty awesome already!

Get any induction noise from the CAIS?

They are a truly awesome sounding car! I can't help but blip the throttle on a down change and throw out a flame and pop.

Problem is I had a K & N panel filter which I did not even realise was in there so noise is better but not that much louder to be honest.

This is what £18 gets you...

Why couldn't they just put copper impregnated ones in from the beginning.

What is the difference with copper impregnated bolts? Do they not distort as much with heat or something?

yeah they don't melt into the turbo housing apparently making it actually possible to get the damn down pipe off in the future without the bolts snapping or rounding.

I wont do it as i am void of patience, talent and tools.

Last DIY fix I did was tappets and valve step oil seals on my old XR2i about 10 years ago.

Wouldnt dream of playing with the ST. Worked to hard to get it to go and mess it up lol.

Yeah I agree rich, Had them on my Seat Cupra R

Well guys after a long and frustrating day downpipe is done.

And I have got to be honest it has made a considerable difference, Even on an unmapped car the turbo spools quicker and it seems to pull harder.

Overall im pleased. No bolts snapped but thread was completely fucked turbo side so every new bolt just fucked up as its like hardened steel...

Couldn't even drill out as turbos are just like hardened steel.

But i got 2 bolts in in the end and then nut and bolted the third. Does not seem to blow and looks alright.

Nice little gain and a better drive overall. Yours is un mapped then?

Need to get some funds together to get this and a cooler.

Glad you got it done though mate

So decat and cat back system, down pipe and case so far?

That on its own really should be good for what, cat back say 5 or more bhp, decat 10? and case (up to 20 seen on a standard car so I heard?)

Be good to hear the RR results like!

Quick update,

Had to cancel Jam Sport for the 1st of march as I cant get an airtec Gen 3 Cooler for love nor money!!!

Airtec are saying next tuesday Wednesday so I have provisionally booked back in with jamsport for 8th March!

Autospecialist guys have been great though and Jamsport have been more than helpful with all the messing about.

Oh well, Im sure it will all get done eventually!

Well I have had to put off the remap that was booked for today...

After much trying to get an intercooler they are sold out everywhere.

I considered going to an RS intercooler just to get it done today but at £200 extra all in I just couldn't stomach the extra cost for little gain as the airtec one works so well anyway!.

So airtec look like they are saying early next week now and then theres me booking a day off and getting to Jamsport.

To cheer myself up I gave it a bit of a clean.

Before.
