Default EbonyCossies ST Thread (Just Ordered RS Intercooler!)

Well here we are. I never thought id own one but i am now a proud owner of a 07 plate Focus ST.

This could end up being 300hp getting bored and moving it on or we could start going for it big style, I havnt quite decided yet!

Spec is

07 ST-3
Bluetooth
Xenons
Voice Control
Auto Wipers
Auto Lights
Etc etc

Mods So Far

Mongoose Cat back exhaust. I dont currently know what to do with the exhaust yet as really i wanted a slashed end Exhaust.

some pics from picking up!

So, its a very clean car but also it is hammering down here and has been all day so in about 20 mins im going to get in the garage and start cleaning and going over it...

Mods planned are

Front Pipe.
Decat.
Airtech Gen 3.

and what ever else over people suggest...

Does anyone have any forum suggestions too, More due to buying second hand bits and making some savings as theres only 1 ford forum to be on

Nice, I much prefer that exhaust to two big slash cut exhausts but suppose thats a personal thing really.

www.focusstoc.co.uk seems a reasonable site mate.

Big Thanks to Rich170 as ive just ordered my black ST stripes for the sides, I think they will look far more subtle in black...

and at Ł27 if they look shit they will come streight off.

So far have cleaned and treated the leather, Its come up really clean so far!

My GB plates are now fitted, Cleaning that area up.

Ive also fitted my side stripes in black, Many thanks to DMB graphics, They are subtle which is what i wanted but I didnt do a very good job of fitting and have marked them in a couple of places.

Im going to order some more with the black stripes over the top and will get them fitted professionally.

Anyone know anyone?

Cheers

Im currently running a Code Red 275 map with a pannel filter on mine and its not to bad. I would strongly advise you replace the front wishbone bushes for powerflex ones. The rear bush on the wishbone is oil filled and doesnt last very long and makes the car feel wooley when they have done a few miles. There about Ł30 each for the rear bush and Ł25 each for the front bush. And if your handy with a 10 ton press you will be ok fitting them. Them fitted with the Ford Eibach springs (Ł98.00 with discount Ł125 +vat with no discount) and the car handles a lot better.

Since replacing the bushes for polly ones the font feels much better and no more wandering under harsh braking. There a well worthwhile mod IMO. Next im looking into replacing the rear trailing arm to the body bush as there also common for splitting.

Cheers Guys..

Sorry still not got any pics for the thread but I have fitted Decat Pipe.

Managed to get it for Ł50 and fitted it myself so was a cheap but very effective mod.

Although what a son of a bitch it was to get the Sensor out!!!!

Love the noise of it now, Also got it on the motorway for a blast and even in standard form it goes ok higher in the gears.

Mods will be in this order.

Front Pipe (completes exhaust so 3 inch from front to back)

Autospecialists CAIS (in red)

Airtec GEN 3 Cooler.

Some sort of suspension set up.

Hoses for the bay in red of course.!

Polybush kit Front + Rear.

REEEEEEMAAAAPPPPP.

Then when funds allow im thinking of the modified turbo or GT28, Brakes etc etc.

Im also interested in the quaife option.... Ł1400 fitted by AMD makes me think it could be good. Anyone driven a 300hp+ one with a quaife in it and what was it like?

Just worried about these bottom end issues im hearing about.

Although pumaspeed reckon their 350 kit is 100% reliable im not hearing goodd things about Pumabuild though so will steer clear!

The diff seems quite expensive, when for an extra Ł200, you can also have the RS clutch and dual mass flywheel fitted...

http://www.dreamscience-automotive.c...nd-lsd-kit.php

Thought about a decat for mine, but just cant be fooked to be pissing about with it come MOT time!

very good friend of mines an MOT tester so im ok with that for the time being anyway.

Few people on STOC that you would get a decent one for 50-60 quid. Mines a miltek although it is only a bit of pipe lol.

Must do MOD IMO. Love the noise, sounds quicker than it is....!

My friend has got a a full Wolf 330 ST. That's got the full exhaust, cias, intercooler and a Wolf turbo (same size compressor wheel as the RS) This car is fast and is very happy to spin the wheels up in 4th. Although the standard ST clutch give up after 90 miles. We have since replaced it with an RS clutch/flywheel set up. I got all the parts incl bolts with a Ford EMP discount for Ł445 incl vat and surcharge (retail is Ł590 +vat and surcharge)
Even my car with its 275 map is having issues with clutch slippage as the pressure plate its poor. So im buying an RS clutch setup for myself. So keep this in mind when your tuning yours.
One thing to take note with a high tuned ST engine is to make sure its kept cool (oil/water) as if its not it can lead to a cracked liner and that means a new block at the least!

Another standard car only made 220bhp and 230lbft

Well everythings taken a bit of a back seat at the moment other that getting the car Decatted.

Bought a Decat pipe from STOC and fitted it, all i can say is what a difference to a standard car, noise and pickup.

Anyway Ive also bought new rear pads disks and red caliper paint. so ill get these done.

Ive also fitted the ST decals on the side and its a really subtle look which is what i was going for so im pleased. I made a few marks on the vinyl though so im going to get some more and get them professionally fitted.

Im starting to really toy with the idea of a Carbon wrapped bonnet roof and rear spoiler. Also toying with bonnet vents???

I have also been thinking about carbon wrapping all the grey plastic bits instead of painting them like most people do, I just dont know.

Its slow progress at the moment what with christmas coming up but I will get back on track soon.

Does anyone know if the braided brake lines are worth doing?

There is a couple of cars on Focus ST Owners club with black/carbon effect roof's but as your car is a dark colour it might be missed when people look at your car.
Profile Automotive/Code Red do a carbon effect dash kit so have a look on there site or FSTOC.
Another mod that people are doing is changing the colour of the SMD's on the dials and radio etc. I personally know the guy that does them for Profile and his work is spot on.
As for the brake lines i don have them on but they can only make the feel of the brake pedal better when abusing the car out on a track etc.

Well im going to attend a few PF track days next year in the car hopefully so do you think that would be a worthwhile mod?

Im going to stick with standard disks i think, been toying with ebc ultimax disks but everyone on the focusstoc reckon its just not worth it.

im going to go with the 5.1 fluid aswell.

The stock brakes seem to be able to cope with a fair bit of stick, ive only had them fade once but i was going very quick.
I get whay your after as it would be a double take kind of thing with the bonnet and roof etc

theres one for Ł450 on stoc but its in aberdeen. Thats not really the problem though. The problem is anything else I get cabon, Would have to be a wrap as you cant get many other bits or a real carbon roof etc and ot wouldnt match.

I just dont know what to get first, im going back and forth... Im thinking suspension now lol.

The more I read the worse it gets.

LOL, i have a huge list of things i want for mine and every time i go to Profile's workshop to see Gary and Dave i see whats going on and end up with a load of new ideas.
Personally i would go with replacing the suspension or adding more power as you don't want it to be all show and no go.
I have seen carbon door mirror covers but i think they where for a facelift/RS

I think I sort of want it all go and not much show.... Im going to go with the tuning/suspension first I think.

Have you got the 3 inch downpipe? I want to talk to someone that had decat and rear system and the added downpipe just to see if it made any difference as I also want to go for that.

Sadly at the moment my car is running a standard exhaust but the people i have spoken to say the 3" down pipe make a difference as the standard down pipe has a fair bend on it thats acts as a restriction as where the 3" one is a lot less.

Sounds like there's plenty in the pipeline for it then! I carbon wrapped my centre console, made a big difference. I've also picked up a facelift rear bumper today, toying with the idea of carbon wrapping the diffuser!

there if a fair bit of difference between a pre face lift and a face lift car, face lift does not have the bezels around the fog and reversing lights and has a gray plastic defuser with fins on the bottom
