my firstborn :) 1995 1275 Spi Mini Mayfair
Hi all, just thought i would post up a few pictures of my first car a 1995 Mini spi.
An intresting thing i found out was that the Spi is actually more powerfull than the old cooper S's with 63 BHP and 70 ft Ib's of torque. The later mini's with multi port injection (MPI) only had 65 ft Ib's and 60 BHP, I presume this is due to the later efficiancy regulations of the time?
Anyway, plans are first for some uprated dampers as the current ones are a bit spongy and as the saying goes "when it brakes, UPRATE"
So first off are the dampers and a decent set of tiers, maybe some Yokohama track day special's as there only 75 quid a corner in 165/60 R12
Going to remove the gay crome strips running down the side and toying with the idea of getting some cooper stripe's for the bonnet.
Its already got an RC 40 exhaust system so i'll drop a K'N under the bonnet to help make use of that and possibly get some higher ratio rocker's as well to give the guy a bit more spunk under acceleration haha, figure the the exhaust, air filter and rockers should take me to around just over 70 BHP which should be a nice amount in a 680kg mini.
Here's a picture of it as it stands at the moment and any advise or comments, good or bad are wanted thanks
(just a side note, the mini is actually about the same size as the new shape KA behind it lol)

multi point injection makes them loads faster, the spi feels very restricted, almost like its strangled. but yeah as clairendave says. webber carb all the way! everytime i had a play with a mpi i got dusted in my spi no matter how much i tried!

Dave not Claire.
you can't beat a webber for noise.
mines got a Jack Knight sccr box, sailsbury lsd, sc drop gears, and a 45 webber. and did 88hp @ the wheels last time it was dynoed. and its still under 1300 cc. I was told its just over 400kg all up as well as its shell is highly modded with alloy, and it has no rear subby
