Default The M5 Thread

Well I could make some angry about this one but as I am going to be modifying the car (and i know there are a fair few others on here with one) i thought i would stick a thread up.

I bought the car last saturday 17th July

The spec list is pretty good with just about every option you can get on one of these.

So here are some pics of it arriving at my house.

Current Mods Are Just the Scorpion Exhausts, The car burbles really nice.

So Today I Received My GB plates and New alloy Dust Caps lol.

I love the difference a set of new GB plates make, I think it freshens the car up. I will fit them and take some pics.

After driving the car I have noticed a few things i want to get rectified.

Gear selector is quite sloppy, Not overly but its a common problem on these, I will be ordering short shift kit from BMW tommorow.

Its from an E60 545I and i have the part numbers if anyone requires them, I also will be ordering the heavier ZHP gear knob that the Yanks raive about.

I already have my M style gear and HandBrake boot on order.

I have also noticed it to be very very juicy, Currently getting 17mpg.

I will be getting the cars Inspection 2 service done and having it looked at on the computer to see whats causing the problem.

I am being told its more than likely the MAFS. They are pricey but if it needs it then its gotta be done.

As soon as the service is complete im going to look into a REMAP and de limiting so i can test the cars 190mph capability.

Scary

Will keep people posted with how it goes.

Im going to be polybushing the front end too.

I also need to find someone that may paint/carbon my dash.

Also want to carbon wrap my front grills and possibly boot lip.

maybe the black bits aswell, what do people think. I dont really know where to go with exterior mods.

Sounds like a good list! If it were mine i'd probably to the front grille trims in gloss black, seen quite a few beemers with this done and it makes a big difference.

I was thinking gloss black mate but i fancy a carbon touch i think...

Will definately be dark anyway. Lots can be done under the bonnet aswell but i dont know how far i want to go.

Does anyone have experience of performance filters on these. for everyone that says get them someone else says keep standard.

Sounds good. What do you think he would charge to do the grills?

im still undecided on the interior bits being done in carbon as it would have to be perfect to look any good.

I may get them painted its just getting them all off lol.

Also any people know of an M5 forum.

I like the M%board but its american so everything they link to costs like £30 to get it here after shipping.

very tempted to get another to be honest, got used alot more than the 3 door, and every pikey inside the M25 doesn't want to pinch it.

i think i may be doing ford fair and putting mine up for sale or breaking.

You dont need an aftermarket ECU for maf delete.

There are many owners on the M5board that all say throttle response is better in first 3 gears and that the car definately feels quicker through first 3 gears.

There are various reports of 380-390bhp going up to 414-424BHP proved by tests before and after on a RR.

Alos im more interested in the delimit fuction which will cost money anyway so why not get both done.

There is also talk of MPG going up.
