Toms MK5 FIESTA ZS | 2.0 Duratec on ITB's | 180bhp+
Hey chaps...
Im new on this forum,
So... my spec will be as follows:
ST150 2.0 Duratec (on 7k, 3k since a full re-build), Titan roller bearing ITB's, webber fuel pressure regulator, uprated fuel pump, St150 gearbox (with built in ERST S2 LSD).. all running on stand alone omex 600 managment (with launch control set up)
This is running circa 187bhp and 149lbfts.. 0-60 in 6.1, (5.9 with the launch control and warm tyres)... and around 198 bhp per tonne
It is mental..lol, love it to bits...
Also have ST front brake set up, with braided hoses...
Anyways here is a few pics, and a cold start video..let me know what you think...
and a video of a very cold start and idle... few revs and stuff in between, whack your headphones in, loads of pops and bangs...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxFlh...layer_embedded
Also stripping it out over the summer, already bought a roll cage, bucket seats and harnesses...
Plans for over the winter: Shawpeed Cams, Head Work from Caterham or Field Motorsports, HD bolts and uprated Valve springs, and a nice re-map to tie it all in...
Cheers
Tom

Thanks a lot for all the comments guys….. yeh it is a bit smokey, but that’s mixed with hot air as it was cold when I started her up.. and she hadn’t been started all weekend…
Yeh she goes like stink with the power to weight ratio of just under 200bhp per tonne, she keeps up with a few things she really shouldn’t.. CTR’s, WRX’s, MK1 Focus RS’s etc… she really puts a smile on my face..
Will be even better when I put her in the garage over winter… will be taking her up to shawspeed to set up some cams, valve spring etc… to see the 200bhp mark.. been speaking to john at Shawspeed, and if I get the headwork done before he rekons he could squeeze close to 260 horses from the engine without going to mental… should be interesting..
Just cannot wait to get the cage in and re-strip it again…
Thanks again for all the nice comments, ill be at the RSOC meet at the half way house next week, and will be at Ace café.. soon, so hopefully see some of you there, come say hi…
Cheers

Only because i know Ben at Kateram, he's a mate of mine who i play rugby with... so he will do it for next to nothing.. i dont know Jon at all....
But it would make sense if i took it up to him for cams, he could work the head as well...
We shall see...
Do you know what cams jon does for the duratec mank..??as id rather order them down my way.. just to save a jounrey up north..

They are labelled like the cams for the SE I believe, so SS4, SS3, SS5 I think. I don't know any technical info on them though. Give Jon a ring, very helpful bloke, certainly knows what he's doing. The heads I've seen for the SE are very impressive, so I can see the Duratec one's being just as good.
You can order it all from Jon and he can ship it to you to get it fitted elsewhere if needed.

Ill give him a buzz after the summer when i get some more money together... it all depends how much he charges for headwork.. might get the cams, valve springs, HD bolts etc from Jon.. then get the headwork done at Kateram..
Cheers for the info

How much of the interior have you stripped to lose over 110kg from the standard Kerb Weight? If its an easy/quick excercies i might consider this for my focus

The ZS is only about 950 kg to start with then...
-removed rear seats (bench and backs)
-removed all the carpets
-all the sound deadening
-removed Rear Door cards
-Carbon fibre front doorcards
-Carbon fibre wing mirrors
-Removed all plastic trim (a pillars, b pillars, c pillars)
-removed boot skin
-Removed rear wiper and motor
-Removed roof lining
-Seat belts and tensioner
-Spare wheel
-Bucket seats
Basically anything that can be lightened do it... and anything that can be taken off do that.. i litterally have taken loads out, but a lot of people go even lighter.. ie half dash, removing PS, etc
Its very noisey in my car, you can hear everything..lol stripping is defo worth doing in my opinion...

Kind of looks like this in there atm... (minus the green dial surrounds, adn the standard door cards, and the trim around the doors... oh and the radio comes out some times...) but with 2 standard seats most of the time... i tend to get bored and take stuff out, put stuff back in... at the moment im in a stripped phase..

Went to the RSOC meet last night and the carbon fibre there was AWESOME so me and john did my new wing mirror base plates and inside light in CF wrap.. came out amazing, havnt got any pics of the light but will get some pics up as and when
Will also be doing my door handles and a few other bits when I can
ALSO: When the cage goes in its going to be sprayed satin black.. saw 2 cages last night in satin black and it just goes soooo well imo

You got much info on the conversion?? ie are the mounts now available off the shelf from various people?? what sort of combination of mk4/5 parts and mk6 parts needed to match up etc??
#28
Obviously an ST150 engine from a mk6.5 … Custom loom (half mk5, half mk6, with the Omex in it) Custom mounts they are basically puma mounts but modified to fit with a bit of nip and tuck and welding a plate to the bottom to raise it up slightly.. (although these are available off the shelf from a few manufacturers but are about Ł300).. ST150 gearbox with the LSD from a mk6.5, Focus ST170 gear selectors and gear stick…
Some more customising in the gear box as the ZS runs a different style gear box to the ST.. (had to run the selectors through a new hole in the fire wall)
Also a custom manifold to fit the mk6 manifold to the mk5 centre section..
That’s the jist of it all..
