ok folks todays update , 13-5-2010
there was some bubbling and cracking of the paint on the drivers a pillar
inspection led to a poor repair being done a some point ,
unfortunately the pics were on the other fone that decided to stop playing , but heres pics of the repair ,
bad cut out ,
new
tacked
weld
note the top hasnt been welded as this will be brazed as per the factory , it flexes more and will stop the same failure in future
cleaned
done
old hole for rst linkage
new
today saw the gearbox bolted up to a mock block , so the gb mount could be sorted ,.
what adam will see in future
adam supplied us with a new ford gb inner wing mount , that was instantly cut up be me lol ,
to make these
front
rear
these then had 3mm plate sections added for strength and also for a bigger surface area for welding
like so ,
to look like this when fitted up
both clamped in position so we could mark out area on inner wing to be cleaned
so whilst karl got on with cleaning , i took a moment to reflect on todays work so far
karl however just got on with it
tacked into position
then i made a brew whilst karl welded it up
and there in
mount on top , no pics of the engine bk in position but you know what that looks like
plan for tomorrow is to stablicse the rock with installation of the rear box damper on a custom mount and a custom rosejointed stabliser in the front ,
linkage in attached and shifting
i let karl to finish up some small bits of welding as its now half 5 and im at work at ten lol
again !!!
ohh and for adam , refrence the fuel filler neck ,
hope you enjoy reading folks ,
beef and speacial k

cheers beefy that looks mint. cant believe how quick you lads are moving on it,
Ive spoke to karl about the filler and its getting cut out and a new filler neck fitted, its amazing how things are hidden on this "mint" shell. Oh well by the time you two are finished with it it will be.
Oh and congrats on the new job, hows it going?

Now then people, just a bit of an update on the shell, it got to a stage where it was noticed that things were not lining up where they should do so the shell went to be put on the jig to check things over and put things in the right place if and where needed.
Well its been and its now back and everything is 100% where things need to be so its just a case of going back to the lads up middlesborough to be finished as soon as they have finished with rics series 2.
So good news it WILL be finished.

Tell me about it, there was a few moments where i thought the same. Even got to the stage of giving up on it but soon changed my mind.
The best bit is i was sold the shell as a 100% mint rust free shell!!
Its supprising what paint a sealer can hide.
