Escort Rs Turbo Rebuilt form Accident/Resto (PIC UPDATE)
So here my first Restoration/ rebuild on my escort Rs turbo. On new years eve, I put the car into a hedge. Deciding not to go though the insurance and take the opportunity the kill two birds with one stone, fix the damage and sort every last lil niggle out, and make very nice and clean.
Cutting out all the rust, full paint job, tidy up the underside and engine bay.
Planning on making her a semi show car and nearly every day.
Here how she looked before I bumped her
Then look like this
Had it recovered home, and found out I had to two bust wheels, ARB was bent, steering rack was bent too, LH TCA was dead and as can been seen bodykit was ripped off, front bumper broke a bit.
Changed all the parts and had it sent to be jigged, was out by 10mm across to the drivers side and the whole from end was down my 5mm, but has been all pull back and done very well.
Since then I have been super busy stripping it down, to be sent off to be welded and painted.
Here all the rust its got.
LH front wing
LH rear wing
RH rear wing
RH front wing
Lil hole in Scuttle panel
And two lil holes in my floor
All the new panel turn up the other day, full sill for each side, inner and outer rear arches, scuttle panel, fuse box tray. Already had two front wings and hoping I'll get away with patching the floor but if not I'll get to floor panels.
The engine and gearbox came out last weekend, now there is just all wiring left to do and brakes to take off and lines, and petrol tank and fuel lines, and the glass, one thing mine not looking forward to along with the wiring.
This is how she looking as of today.
I will keep thing updated, but now I'm now a bit of a slow time as the car cant go to be welded and painted till after 6th April.

Got some more work done today between rain showers. Tank is drained (Dads now going to be running the mower on BP ultimate!), pumps for too. Brakes are all off to and hand brake. Down side to the day, discovered the donor hubs I put on while I refurbish the other, well the LH hub bearing fell to bits, so without the brakes on the wheel, disc and half the hub are free to fall off when ever they fancy it.
Jonny S2: The plans are to get the bodywork, inside, bakes and suspension and underside tip-top. Run it for the summer with the engine and gbox as they are part from a service, then do a full engine and gbox rebuild next winter.
Going to lifting the car up a lil be form in what ever hight it is on -40mm cut spring ( the ex owner) to proberly 35mm drip on, adding full new bushes, Adjustable TCAs, upgraded steering arms, front and rear strut braces.
There is also a lot of thing getting painted all the under side parts are getting powered coated or painted gloss black and a lots if engine bay parts painting to, eg intercooler and header tank.

There a few updates but not many. nearly everything is off the car now, just got wiring, not really looking forward to getting this out.
But many doing a lot of getting fucked off with nuts and bolts that haven't been undone in 20years!
Been doing a lot of wire brushing of parts ready for painting.

Fuel tank
Well I did it today, use scotch bright pads and petrol to scrub about 90% of it off and then Toluene** mix with Isopropnole** alcohol came up really well, but I got smack off my tits in the garage on it, and I was wear a big filter spraying mask!lol
/\ All that's left here is some surface rust.
Should be able to shot some colour tomorrow, Think its going gloss back as kinda brought gloss black before I completely made my mind up, also thinking about the "strap" to paint red.

Updates 26-09-10
Well its been a while but here are some more pics.
Not been a super amount of work been done, but not had much time for a while, but fingers crossed Ill have more time this winter and hoping to have everything done to the car and ready for the road, all except engine and gearbox, before Xmas. then it will be time to start the engine and gearbox rebuild.
Fitted my freshly painted petrol tank and filler neck.
Then mover on to fitting the rear suspension and brakes and few other bits.
All parts had been cleaned and painted in the garage, new -35mm spax spring brought.
Rear hubs rebuild and painted.
Now the back end is back on its wheels and the front end is now up in the air wait for me to start on it. Getting all the parts ready in the garage at the mo.
