cheers guys. the red/black hose has always been on the car so couldnt tell ya!
I managed abit more work done today (one handed lol), got it timed up, inlet and exhaust on, pretty much ready to go back in the car. Will get some pics up tomorrow. Going to try and fit the engine in the morning as my mate has a day off and can give me a hand.

Time for another update!
IT RUNS!
Few more pics of the engine before it went in...
The gaping hole that the engine left behind a couple of months back needed filling!
IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!
And... It has all important oil pressure!
Everything needs tidyin up and sorting out properly, but I just wanted to get it running first and make sure mechanincal it was ok! Starting it wasnt as straight forward as Id hoped, done a big school boy error and plug two connectors in the wrong places! No spark! I got out an oscilliscope to check the cps and phase sensor were working which they were, done all the usual checks and still no sparky! I then starting to buzz through the loom using a wiring diagram, and I soon found my problem
All seems good at the moment so fingers crossed!

I fitted an AEM afr gauge and lambda today. I wanted to know what the mixture was like before I started to run it in. It was off the scale at idle, the gauge goes down to 10:1 and it went way past that! so gave the co screw a tweak on the ecu and set it up to 14ish for now.
Just waiting for a couple of hoses from roose motorsport and then it can start driving it and getting some miles on it!
Im after a 3 gauge holder to go in the centre vents if any one has one or knows where I can buy a new one? Burton do one but is carbon look and I just want the black one.

lol dont say that, I already had a small water leak, I pissed myself when I was about to start it for the first time lol nah, it was coming out the water temp sensor, all sorted now though.
Ive bought an L8 ecu with a wasted spark conversion with a chip programmed for black 83 siemens injectors with a ported head, but a t38 turbo. So Im going to get the l8 ecu in there soon and get it mapped once its all run in.

Yeah having the pulleys all open is a bit dodgy, but I dont want to cover them up considering the price of the cam pulleys and bolts! lol Would rather show them off.
Got my hoses yesterday, so i put them on last night, just need to get a few hose clips to do them up with.
I might start driving it soon

I have finally fitted all my hoses and its finally ready to drive, Ive done 11 miles in it so far!
I still need to fix a water leak coming out the coolant sensor at the back of the head, I thought I had sorted it but obviously not, Its just such a pain to get to I cant be bothered at the moment, need a small break from it all!
Fitted the AFR gauge and oil temp, still need to buy a EGT gauge.
Got my L8 ecu. Came with the wasted spark driver and MSD chip.
If anyone has any wasted spark stuff for sale let me know. What coil pack is used for the wasted spark set up? Is it just a zetec coil pack?

Yeah, spent ages unscrewing the sensor and putting some ptfe tape on the thread and put it back, still leaking so Im hoping its the gasket not sealing properly inbetween the sensor holder thingy to the head. So im going to silicone the fuck out of it and hope for the best. Probably take the inlet manifold off so I can see what Im doing!

Im going for a reliable 450, which should be easily done with the spec.
I got the AFR gauge off ebay mate, for £170...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AEM-Wideband-A...item4cee627f04
Comes with everything you need, its a nice bit of kit, would recommend it!
