My Saph thread, MAD 500 spec engine + other goodies
Not a huge amount to report, but i thought i'd show you all what i've been doing.
So it's been off the road since October, and i hadn't really looked at it, but i started a few weeks back.
Started by removing the shocks, got no pics of them, but they are AVO coil overs, and put it this way, i can compress them with my little finger, so they've gone for a trip to Northampton for a rebuild, fitted a pair of ABS sensors to the front in a bit to turn the ABS back on again!
Pulled the front brakes off (standard 4x4's with 350+ bhp are shocking) and bought these off here.......
quick trial fit to make sure all is well
Then gave them a lick of paint
Should be able to stop now!
Next up was the fuel pump, it was the standard item, and shockingly what looked like the standard filter, not good!
So a nice new 044 was sorted, along with genuine filter, but when i took the old one off, the cradle pretty much disintergrated! Not good, and we all know what sort of money they fetch.
But i managed to find myself a bargain on ebay and got a nice solid one for £16 posted , after some new rubber mounts and a quick paint, we had this.....
So got that all fitted, along with a new Rewire kit from Coswurv.
Decided i need yet more De chroming.............
I also had a quick check round the wheels when they where off, and found one of the front ones was cracked they're only about 1500 miles old! fooking pot holes!
So i chucked it ont he balancer at work to see if it was bucket, but it was straight as a die, so thats been welded back up (wasn't actually bad, wasn't leaking, but i thought better to get ti sorted) but somehow its been dropped on its face and scratched to hell, so now thats being refurbed!
Booked her into MSD today for closed loop and wasted spark too!
That it for now really, i will update as more happens

Few little bits today.
quick pic of the pump setup, as i was under there with the camera!
Trial fitted a wheel over the brakes (was never going to be an issue, but fancied seeing what they looked like!)
Fitted the caliper the other side, just bolted it in place without the disc to fit the lines
And some shiney bits turned up in the post
Nice solid beam mounts, what are they like to fit?

Looking good mate!
I never found the standard brakes that bad on mine at stage 3 tbh. I may be taking the AP's off and going back to standard brakes and wheels (prefer the standard sharktooth wheels). I'll see how they cope with 500+ bhp!!! Lol!

its halford's very high temperature paint and hammerite yellow, i was going to go for hammerite black but i thought it'd be too shiney, i do like the way they have come out though.
My brakes worked ok, untill you drove it constantly hard, i set them on fire round the TT course on the isle of man with stage 1 power, and i wasn;t going THAT well tbh, and i have had all 4 discs glowing and the pedal just hitting the floor on local roads a few times.

Another little bit done, Poly diff mount fitted, i think i now have about half a sierra cosworth in my eye though
Attempting to do the beam mounts, but having some issues with captive nuts not playing ball.
AVO have rebuilt my shocks (£84, incl vat and return p+p, sounds a bargain to me!) and they should be here on monday, i havn't got any strut top mounts to fit them though, as they are away having some CF.

my standard fronts were crap with 350 and my 330s with 4 pots fade out after about 6 hard stabs above 100 with 500bhp as u are going so much faster than the guy in front who isent driveing like a twat lol i think with the standard brakes back on id end up hitting someone! next move for me will be 6pots

Small update again, got she solid beam mounts on, so thats the back end all done now
After a big of hassle with the captive nuts not being very attatched to the car, i attacked it with a grinder and got them off, managed to fit normal nuts and bolt back into them, very fiddly job though!
Pics are blurry, not sure why, camera just wouldn't focus on the alloy?!
Should be handleing nicely now!

Yeah, they fit really nice actually, they are A1 Rally Sport ones off ebay, should tighten it up nicely.
Just need the coilovers to come back now and it can side on all 4 wheels for the first time in months! Can go outside for a wash then!

small update, still awaiting some bits!
Bought myself a Spec R group A dump valve, had one before, then i decided to run without one, but its due to go up to 32 psi in april, and i think i fancy running a DV with that boost, so i managed to blag one in amazing condition off ebay, for £16. bargain.
You may of noticed i dont do chrome, so it had to have some treatment!
I also "modded" the spring so it doesn't go off so much at lower boosts, fuck knows if that was a good idea, or even if it'll work, time will tell!
Also got my wheel back today from being refurbed, i didn;t get any before pics as i was so pissed off at the damage, but im well happy with the job done, perfect colour match seeing as its only the lip and round the valve thats been done.

Its back on four wheels !
Not been able to get it out though as the fuel pump is still bloody leaking!
Hopefully be able to fix that tomorrow, and then i can get it out in the sunshine at the weekend.
The ride height, is, erm, low, at the moment, but damn it looked cool.
