Another mk4 Escort Bonus
Pics as promised, wanted to build another Bonus as love the look of the base models and they are usually better looked after than the XRs and RS shells, and driven by old folk lol. Some people might remember my old blue one:
I put an 1800 zetec 105 spec in her and went well, then a 2.0 went in but still ran the 105 management so was never as quick as it should have been. Sold that one and been looking for another good shell for a few months, finally this one came up on Ebay in London of all places! Just turned a genuine 30k from new, 2 owners from new and importantly for me no sunroof, and a rare colour.
its had 2 x very small welds in all its life, but apart from these the shell is mint, the best i've had by far and i've had a few now lol. Drove down on saturday with good mate Hairdo, seen here rocking out lol
then back up yesterday with a quick visit to a fairly famous venue:
So she is now home (drove the 450 miles faultlessly) and tucked away in the garage, after a good wash to get all the shite from the journey off. My favourite part was the price.....won on Ebay for £260 as had failed mot on daft things! Spent about the same again gettin her home but was a great weekend so all good.
Plans are to give the car a well needed t-cut to get all the wee marks off and will be lowered on S2 wheels and wee plates, turbo interior and 2.0 zetec with 130 spec everything, cossie brakes etc. I've already bought a donor mk4 which was built for the track with all the bits i need so just waiting for weather to get a bit better!
hope you like, cheeRS

i was the other bidder lol, i bidded upto 500 but i retracted the bid once they put the pics of the rust up.
Didnt look bad but wasnt worth 500 imo.
you got it at a good price though... Love the colour!
was gonna go all out 2.1 in it.

a mass bonus pic/stand would be ace! keep me posted about that Danny mate, i'm pretty adamant the car will be at Ford Fair
I'm glad you retracted your bid mate lol, cos i would have went to that amount if needed, the rust is very very minor, the rest of shell is in incredible condition.
Yeah, it had failed on wee bit welding mate, also two bulbs, poor handbrake and blowing exhaust - nothing really for an old Ford

Really like that!!! If you dont mind me asking but, where are the rusty area's that need doing??Also on the engine it has the ECU on the passenger inner wing in the picture, yes?? I always thought the pushrod engine in the Escorts did'nt have this,I know the mark 3 Fiesta's had them alright,or am I mad wrong?? Anyhow, lovely car.Mines not a bonus, but a 1.4L (no sunroof either),does that get me into the bonus/base model club??? All the best,Micky

The car still has a carb - not CFi.

Yeah Micky, Mark is right, car still runs a carb but with quite a good electronic ignition system from the factory.
I've not actually found the hole that needs done for mot, it says offside front suspension component so i'm assuming its down near the crossmember, or where the chassis leg meets the front panel.
Should be pics over the weekend as the Crossflow comes out and zetec goes in

well after a busy weekend fuelled by MacD's, we now have a running Zetec Bonus
the donor car, Escort Eclipse with strong 2.0 zetec, 130 spec ECU, inlet, throttle body etc, RST box, full new XR3i exhaust, Recaro's etc:
stripping the Bonus
pleasantly surprised with this
photo of how we have done wiring (ecu in cabin so water proof) and fuel filter set up
and then in she goes
Just drove it up the road and its awesome Massive thanks to Pete for doing all the wiring etc (transferred entire loom over so now have e/w, c/l etc) and all the knowledge, and also to Dad and Ben for helping as well.
Still rolling on original wheels and trims till i get my wheels on, thinking of running it for a bit like this
