MK3 Escort 1.3 Ghia
1982 1.3 Ghia, the old lady who owned it from new has gone into a home and a family friend was asked to sell it for her, 54K miles and always garaged, only a small bit of corrosion on the N/S rear arch, completely original, metal number plates, dealer sticker with matching tax holder and Jim Reeves and James Last cassette's in the storage box! here are some pics as the clean up continues....
Ive taken the back end apart and T Cut and polished all around the boot, the interior has had a good hoover and clean too
dirty shelf
clean shelf
Bent bumper will go in the bin
Taken off the rust preventing paint
Back to how it should be
made a start on the front end today, bumper has joined the rear in the bin
half way there

Cheers guys the black paint (I think) is from when the car was new, the whole underside is covered in it too which has helped keep it tidy. Its much better than I thought it would be, will post some pics of the interior which is immaculate and oh so retro brown
plans are to keep it original, no spoilers etc but I will lower it, Escorts look kak IMO unless they are low and I'll change the wheels, I've got Series 1 RS wheels on another of my MK3's and a set of clover leafs lurking behind the garage, not sure on either I'd like something along the lines of those Ronal Turbo wheels

Found a nice pool of water yesterday in the passenger front footwell, i'll be getting the battery tray sorted this week now
Took the carpet out and gave it a good hose down, scrub and shampoo
The sound proofing is like a sponge and now weighs a ton, why after only two days of being wet does it smell like a dead wet dog? This will be take a while to dry out.
At least I got a chance to check out the floor, happy enough with this
The only MK3 ive had without any cracks in the dashboard

small update
car is in for battery tray welding Tuesday the only rotten bit on the whole car was the tray, Ive had a few MK3's and never had a rotten tray even though they are common, here it is
a view from underneath (not very good though)
the new one
dash out, major pain
will post some pics when done

Passed MOT today after a rear wheel cylinder was sorted along with a new pair of wipers, had some new bumpers painted in Diamond white, not sure whether to put the overriders back on, what do you reckon?
