Default Escort 2.0l 16v track day project update 27/10/12 rs 1700t bootlid painted

Thought it was about time we got a dedicated car to use and have fun on some track days,so with a bit of luck we stumbled across this little mk4 escort bonus ,a deal was struck, one day insurance sorted and we drove it home , going to be built up with mostly second hand bits from other projects etc ,but will still be built to a nice standard
Plans are to fit a s1 kit painted flint grey along with a modified 90 spec bumper in flint grey along with rear bumper in flint grey aswell , car will stay silver as i think it will work well with the grey and a set of team dynamics pro race 1.2 in black, r888 tyres, full strip out in side, 6 point cage buckets (decent ones) and harnesses, full carbon roof.and poly windows, engine wise will prob stay away from a turbo lump ,friend has suggested 1800cvh, big valve head, cam ,lighten flywheel and twin carbs, poly bush, st 170 brakes and decent suspension.

Both arches are like this with a little bit of rust at the bottoms which will get sorted

Both sills have had work but will get a look over and tidied up

Black square around door lock is a sticker

All good in here

The throbbing power plant which wont be staying

This and the roof will be going for a full carbon replacement

Spent a couple of hours today stripping out the interior ,removed every single nut clip and bolt not wanted ,was nicley surprised at the sill just needs minimal work

Will remove drivers seat to get carpet out next ,seat staying so we can move it about.
More updates soon

Ill be interesting this.
Pro Race 2s in 15s easily clear 300mm brakes, light strong and cheap so good choice.
Think it'll be a shame if you dont turbo it though.

i think the 1.8cvh n/a will be a good unit for the track, thrash the pants outa it with no expensive reliability issues of a turbo'd monster

1.8 cvh is a real donkey mate compared to a zetec, i'd deffo bung a zetec in there unless you want to go away from ford!. Then its ripe if you want to go ahead and turbo it later.......

Great base to start with.

Break the mould. Go for a K20 with the 6spd, 200bhp NA engine ripe for the Mk4 Escort.
