Turbo'd Honda CRX
Heres something I was working on last week.
Its a imported CRX del sol, (higher comp b16 engine) 10.6:1 compression ratio.
Spec will be
Standard internals.
Race-Tech Manifold,
Custom boost pipes,
RC440 injectors.
Evo Turbo
Turbosmart 38mm external wastegate
Chipped ECU.
I've got the boost pipes and manifold done, just need to add the wastegate takeoff to the manifold. Downpipe then can map it Should make 260-280 and retain stock reliability with better fuel economy

Why not? Generally speaking forged internals have a lower compression ratio, so this will drive better off boost, standard internals saves the rebuild cost, last longer, (tighter clearance). Other than strength theres no real downside to stock internals, and these are IMO well within there limit's. 20,000+ miles on some of the stock engine'd cars we've done.

Totally forgot i'd put this car up on here.
Its still going strong.... Very strong.
Heres the results when we put it on the dyno.
Line marked "1" is the car with breathing mods, i.e. exhaust and filter, it made 172hp.
Line marker "2" is the standard torque.
The top line is the torque when turbo'd (notice even at 2500rpm's its got more than standard torque )
Red line is the power when turbo'd.
Blue line is power ATW. (for those of you that know, we had serious traction problems on the dyno (cheap tyres, you can't tell some people!) this meant we had to strap it down really hard, which probably lost us another 10hp ATW.
Boost was curve was set to 0.6 bar at 5000rpms and 1 bar at the limiter. This allows the car to put down nice power on the road, if it had an LSD and better tyres we could run more in the midrange.
The cars done 15,000miles, the owner called me the other day and said "vtec's not working" i said when did you last check the oil, he said, "I cleaned under the bonnet about 4 months ago" (they have a pressure switch in the head which when below a set level it doesn't allow vtec to work). That shows the level of maintenance it gets.
100% stock engine, still untouched.

We've ran 120mph+ terminals in an 1100kg car, i'd say well over 400 on a totally stock engine. We'r putting 1 on the dyno in the morning that should make over 400hp That will be head and shoulders above any other stock engine'd car. We've done around 50 in the past couple of years, about 5 are above 400hp.
It drives like/better than a stock car till you floor it. They do better MPG as well.

So impressed with what you get out of these (1.6 aren't they)? Out of interest what sort of money is it to convert a totally stock engine to say 300bhp, turbo/management/manifolds etc? I realise there are no doubt lots of ways you can go about it just seems a pity honda never turbo'd the engines in the first place lol as they're so strong!

dissagree, i'd bet you'd never notice a diff in off boost driveability with low comp pistons
You can run more ignition advance with low comp
you can run more boost with low comp, safely.......

I think you'll find that they use the mild cam setting off boost and the minute the car starts to make decent boost they flick over to the wild setting meaning that although the static compression is quite high the dynamic on vtec is fine for turbo'ing.

You'd be VERY suprised, but sorry we can't give that away
