Just joining with the v-bands Mark,

As for the cradle, I'm not going out the rear, it will be twin side exit pipes

Thank you mate

The views on the resto are climbing rapidly lately, bearing half a million!!!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments and support and knowledge throughout the last 4 and a half years,

Hopefully next year will see the car out and about for everyone to have a proper look at and see it used in anger by me with my total lack of driving talent and experience

Marc

The large Pyrex cup allows great vision and allows tungsten stick out of up to 2" making it easy to do real tight corners/negative angles etc
They give much better gas coverage and argon cooling of the weld so great for stainless

No mate there suppose to save gas so they say!

Actually edited to say I know the small gas saver saves up to 40% argon saving but not sure on these large diameter ones, although they give a much better flow and coverage

Anybody recommend some who sells parts to make a repackable box/silencer? I only have room for 1 and needs to be quiet for track although the idea is for the twin side exits to share the noise hopefully reducing the db on either side

Or try Pete at PTR exhausts. He is ex Goodfab so knows a thing or 2 about silencers, good prices too.

My car has one very large Hayward and Scott silencer which was 106db last time out, I've since had it re packed with the more expensive packing so I hope it's a lot quieter now as there isn't anywhere to put another silencer.

What size silencer is that mate?

I'm goin to have a measure tomorrow roughly what room I think I have, need to make up the smooth radius 'T' piece first and maybe even the tailpipes

I'd have to measure it but it's sat in the sill of the car, it's a fair size but there is only about 1m from the turbo to the silencer so I think the heat really gives it a hard life.

Bedford is 101db static, I think Brands is 105 but it's the drive by with one silencer I'm more worried about !

I really think you'll need a main box and then a separate box each side , I used siome Primary Designs boxes and cut them down ,they fit nicely where the rear beam locations are..

Small New Year's Eve update,

Bit more exhaust work,

Got another 45 bend but had to shorten 1 leg slightly to make sure the pipe ended up Central in the gearbox tunnel

Chop saw a necessity for exhaust work imo

Didn't end up getting tacked in place today as got onto the next job while the saw was out,

A 90 degree 'T' piece for where the exhaust will split to the side exit tailpipes, ones on the net I found were not swept so shit for smooth flow so thought I'd make my own,

Had a gas issue being a loose fitting which cause a really nice weld to turn into a pretty shitty one due to poor gas flow so I ground the welds back but here's a decent bit before i ground back

Annoyingly the weld started good until the flow of gas pretty much stopped and it really made a mess so pissed me off but I ground back and it still looks good just a waste of what should of been a nice tig weld especially with the new lens but il have plenty more to do,

All ground back

I think just for looks I'm gonna go over it again so I get the nice bead look as I'm a Buffy at hart lol,

I also plated the cut out in the cross mount for the gearbox, decided to use up the last bit of mig gas before the bottle goes back as I'm gonna only use Tig from now on to save on rental fees

I find the pulse setting useful when the welds maybe don't look their best. I haven't seen you use it yet but tbh that's no bad thing as it's a bit lazy !

Hi Mark.

I noticed that you placed cooler (Mocal) on the cold side.
May I ask why?

Hi Tony,

That looks exactly like what I need to do, big 'ish' center box and 2 small boxes as it splits, what sort of db is the making, do you know?

The weld would of been fine if it wasn't for the gas leak causing bad coverage and contamination so I haven't really needed to use pulse to help me out yet which as you said is a good thing,

Sure we can sort something but it's a shame I don't have room to securely store the car and then I could keep it in the garage and do it no problem

I thought the hot water came out of the engine and back into the bottom left hand connection of the radiator and rises up through the radiator being cooled and re enters the engine from the top right hand side connection of the radiator to the right hand side connection on the thermostat?

If that is how it flows then the cooler is on the hot side as it is plumbed in between the thermostat and the bottom left hand radiator connection?

Just reading your views on exhausts and I've got 1 repackable silence on my cossie fiesta with a 3" system and its relatively quite, I've driven noisier std road cars. Its definitely not over track day db limit, even on boost.
