Some may not like it but this is purely a function over form thing,
Still have the gearbox tunnel to do yet, I used thermotec adhesive backed heat barrier
There is a small section of brake line in the left lower corner that's not too close to heat but to be safe I got a length on fire sleeve from goodridge cut it in half then wrapped it tight around the brake line and for now secured with cable ties until I can get some tiny jubilee clips
That's the only update for now other than Mark @ MK Motorsport now has my external wastegate trouser piece and is re doing it from scratch for me

Spanner monkey
I think it looks great, adds to the race car look, saves your paint on the engine bay and should also stop the cabin from over heating!
Such a fantastic build, always look forward to the updates!

Done a bit more today, just small bits as I have no money at all lol but There is always stuff to do with what I already have,
Fitted a bit more shielding to the gearbox tunnel, not sure how far I am gonna go back yet, so will leave it there for now but I have another 36"x48" sheet if needed,
Fitted the diff brackets properly and new plated 12.9 socket caps for gearbox
Also got my external wastegate 2wd trouser piece back from Mark @ MK Motorsport, thanks for the quick turn around mate
It's now much better
So decided to attemp to heat wrap it and I can say wrapping it tight, holding it and lock wiring it in place is a job for a fecking octopus as I didn't have enough hands
Used all 30ft on the trouser piece but came out ok in the end, gonna let it dry out for a few days then paint it with the DEI wrap sealant spray
Last couple of things on today's to do list was mount the Aeromotive fuel reg and drill the bulkhead for the wiring loom grommet and feed it all through, holes were painted after drilling to stop any rust
Fuel reg
Wiring loom bulkhead grommet
How I left it today
Get a few more bits done in the week hopefully
Thanks
Marc

Sure does Si
Well I ordered some more and started on the main manifold piece,
But believe it or not I used 50ft of 1" wide and this is all it covered!!!
So have just ordered another 50ft but this time of 2" wide wrap as the fiddly bits are done and its the main part left that I'm gonna wrap in 1, hopefully that will neaten it right up but this piece is a lot more difficult for sure,
Thanks
Marc

Hi,
Including the 50ft of 2" wrap that should turn up in the morning it would of cost me Ł110 to do the entire thing so not cheap but a lot cheaper than the zircotec coating which cost me Ł475 last time i had it done through Primary Designs
Thanks mate, i am hoping that once i have finished the main piece with the 2" wrap that it will look a lot better as i am a fussy fooker lol
Thanks Bri
Cheers mate
Nice to see you briefly too mate lol, Ka was looking pukka as always
lol @ Ben, you 2 rip each other constant

When all this heat wrap has fallen apart and the rest of the car is up and running then i think i will get it properly coated, just a bit cheaper for now, primary designs definitely added on a good few quid for being the middle man but back then (4-5 years ago) they would not deal direct with me
Thanks for the comments

Got the other half of the manifold wrapped today & I must say it was a bitch of a job
Anyway, all done but still wet so need to let it dry for a couple of days to tighten up and then il spray it
Also bolted the 2 pieces back together and lockwired the bolts
Other thing done tonight was make up the -3 aeroquip line for the F88 fuel pressure sensor,
Got the fittings from torques and made it up,
All done
That was it for tonight
Thanks
Marc

Wanted to sort out my oil pressure sensor take off and oil temp take off today so went about modding the mocal remote filter housing to take them both, almost done but I didn't realise I did not have an M12x1.5 tap for the temp sensor, so once I get that il tap it and its ready
The oil pressure sensor will be on a short an3 line as per the fuel press sensor so it gives me a bit more reach to the loom
Here it is done bar the M12x1.5 tapping

PassionFord Post Whore!!
You can buy proper wrap sealant or use vht paint (very high temperature)
what made you choose this wrap over one like the titanium wrap that doesn't need sealing?
Great progress as usual.
Can I ask, how old are you? And what do you do for a day job? Just out of interest.

DEI sell a proper silicone sealant spray designed for the DEI wrap, protects it from going brittle, oil stains etc
To be totally honest I didn't realise until you just mentioned it that the Titanium wrap didn't require sealant, I just chose the black as it was my colour preference,
Random question about my age etc lol but I don't mind at all,
I'm 31 and I'm a drainage engineer CCTV pipeline surveyor, basically I check conditions or new or old pipe work on highways, new build estates, main foul sewers etc
Cheers mate
