Brilliant update Marc, looks so good in one colour.
Cannot wait to atleast see mine in primer now as it makes you feel like your really getting there with it.
Good move on the CV boots too

Gaz got a few more bits on the car done yesterday
Pulled the shell out of the booth
Close up of the join on the rear quarter panels,
from this
to this
After removing the front bumper mounts it shows how cracked the gel coat was underneath so i may have some rings made up with the same bolt hole pattern to go on the outside to stop so much stress on the 5 holes and spread the clamping force a bit better
After a bit of a touch up and primer
bumpers primed
A few of the exterior trim parts were also primed, door scuff trims, handles etc, the roof vent cover is also being painted. It was originally a lovely lacquered carbon but some had painted it and ruined it before i bought it so it's getting color coded now
Gaz also asked me if i wanted the inside of the bumpers painting? but i do not really see the point so told him to leave them, they are a fiberglass/kevlar mix so are a black dark yellow color and woven so it's not like there gonna be a nice smooth painted finish anyway,
Do you think i made the right choice to leave them raw?
They look like this, and it's how i have told him to leave them
It wont be seen from the outside
That's all for now
Thanks
Marc

Looking good marc.
All the panels on mine were painted inside and out when it was originally painted.
The only panels you can see the the inside of are the doors as the cage passes into them meaning you can't fit door cards. It's definitely not smooth but it doesn't look that bad. If none of yours are on show I really wouldn't bother though unless your painter has reasons to do it that is.

Yeah James well impressed
Got new cap head bolts for steering rack and engine mounts today so bolted them back together along with solid rack bushes, nothing major but it's a part that's ready to bolt back on
Also dropped off all my anti roll bar drop links, 5 bar map sensor manifold, some alloy washers and cam trigger mount to be anodized, all being done in red to match the pulleys etc,
Along with that lot they are zinc passivating some throttle body parts and my grp a wheel nuts as they were all bare metal so would of soon rusted up again if not treated
Think Gaz has been on the car today so if any updates get emailed to me i will post up later

Inside of tailgate prepped for painting, decided not to cut out the insides as it was not worth the weight saving, will most likely fit a carbon trim panel if i think it needs something once fitted
Then with color
And the inside of the bonnet in color,
I think this confirms the Moonland metallic color choice was a great decision

Thanks guys
Yes i see the bracket Martin made so if the mount ever gave way it would not move enough to cause damage, so i may do similar and incorporate a heat shield but i can do that at a later date as long as i do it before engine is finally put in place

Gaz txt me to say he had been down the workshop this afternoon to get the bonnet and tailgate painted and he had fired over some new pics, so here they are,
Fantastic
Bonnet masked up
base coats i assume (i am no paint expert)
Lacquered
Same with the tailgate
Lacquered
So pleased with the color, i wanted a metallic that looked dark and moody in certain light but that changed and appeared a lot lighter in sun and this color seems to do that so well
Thanks Gaz top work

I am glad I chose to travel and take the shell 270 miles up to Gaz, I see no problem traveling for the right job, it's adds Ł300 - Ł400 on the price of the job in traveling costs but that's a small price to pay in my opinion, especially when 99% of bodyshops have the car 6 months longer than agreed and still do a half hearted job,
I'm looking forward to seeing the whole lot painted inside and out and the panels bolted back on to get the full effect
I'm sure there will be more updates this week so keep ya eyes peeled

The inside and underside is fully painted now so you will see what i mean in a minute about it being nice and dark when not in direct light will hide the dirt nicely lol

Big paint update!
Got a txt from Gaz when i come out the cinema tonight much to my delight
(after watching Harry Potter lol)
So soon as i got indoors i went online and uploaded the pics Gaz emailed me
Here is the underside, engine bay and inside fully painted
It has come out exactly as i planned going by the photo's, very dark underneath and in rear of engine bay so will hide the dirt and nice and light in the easily seen area's, same on the inside, should help to keep it looking more presentable down the line, if i had gone for white it would of looked lovely for 5 minutes but been stained and dirty looking before the car was even on the road.
First off i asked Gaz to neaten the gear selector hole as it was a little rough and was worth straightening before painting
When i heavily tiger sealed everything i forgot to run a bead across the back panel so Gaz kindly did this for me
Then proceeded to brush seal the inside area's for me,
Time to mask area's off before painting begins
Then it's time for base coats
Then the color with lacquer applied
It must of been a real pig to paint the inside so fair play to Gaz, top notch mate, well impressed and the best is still to come with the outside
Thanks
Marc
