Default 4x4 conversion

Hi i am going to buy my mates sierra cosworth 4x4 off him and i want to use the engine to put in a mk6 escort. Im either going to buy a RS2000 4x4 so that the axles are ready for a 4x4 engine or maybe buy the axles separate and convert a standard mk6 escort into a 4x4. Can someone who has knowledge on such conversions help me out with some advice. Its going to cost me alot of money so i want to do it the cheapest possible way, where can i get hold of 4x4 rs2000 axles (or maybe the sierra 4x4 axles might fit the escort?) and will the sierra 4x4 cosworth engine fit into a mk6 escort (i know the engine mounts will need working on)? Im going to get the cosworth off my mate for £4000 (Its modified to about 450 bhp at the moment) and Rs2000 4x4's go for around £1000-£1500 (i have found a couple at this price range.

The RS2000 4x4 shares nothing with the Sierra floor pan, the engine is in the wrong way round and the transmission and axle are totally different.

You may as well start with a normal Mk5 Escort shell and weld the Sierra floor pan in.

Thanks for the reply Mark, isn't a 4 door sierra longer than a mk5 or mk6 3 door escort? How will it be possible to weld the sierra floor pan in? Im really serious about this project so i could do with as much info possible. So is it not possible to drop the sierra cossie engine into a rs2000 4x4 the way i first suggested?

Thanks for the reply mate, thats what i want to do. Im going to get the sierra cosworth in full working order off my mate, im also going to get an escort shell but i need to know the best way to go about doing this. I was told 'The Rs2000 4x4 transfere box WILL explode with cossie power through it' from someone, so how can i go about this problem?

Depends on how much you want to pay ?
I have a nice mallard green rolling shell with leather, just needs running gear. Sapphire stuff will bolt straight in.

escort cossy shell is deffo the easiest option& probably the cheapest to you can make any thing fit in any thing if you have the know how i put 4x4 escos running gear in a mk2 escort which is 6" shorter & 6"narrower using sierra floor pan.
