Ive just bought one the same,Its a pacifica blue L reg with a 2.0 zetec and cost me £350,I took the kit off and found quite a bit of rot (both sills ,rear arches ,rear panel etc..) I got a bit disheartened last weekend but after a week of spending on panels, brakes, exhaust and bottom arms, im determined to get it sorted.Good luck with yours,I know they are not classics but if nobody saves them there will be none left in the next 5 years.

thanks fellas, it certainly has picked up a little pace over the past couple of months. Because of the size of my garage I'm having to work on one side at a time, but now the passenger side and rear is almost complete as far as welding and panels are concerned. (I had not picked a welder up for 30 years, since my apprentice days lol)
Started on the mods too, was in Halfrauds last month and spotted a pair of front grooved discs, Red Dot, was £90, got them for £20!
One question, if anyone know, the stuff they stick on the floor pan and the inside of some panels, looks like its pressed on under heat during manufacture and designed to stop flexing/rattling of the panels?, what is it, can you get hold of it??

You talking about the Sound Deadening thats on the boot floor too? Most people get rid of it because it weighs to blood much!

quick update on this, although nothing much happening with it being show season and my Mondeo craving some attention.
the front suspension on off side is all stripped off and currently being refurbed, and I picked these wheels up last week as payment for a car i had detailed and paint corrected, think they will look ok on the XR2i
Puma alloys 15" 195/50 with good treatd on the tyres

As mentioned above they are sound deadening pads as fitted standard.
I have them if you need them. They come in in 2 sizes, 500mm x 500mm
which are ideal for floor pans and 200mm x 500mm which are ideal for
inner sills and other small areas. Lay these down first them paint over
them for a nice looking job

well its nearly a year on now, not much been done during the spring and summer, due to the car season and alot of paint correction and detailing work
But I've managed to get all the frront suspension cleaned up and put back on with new brake dics and a few other bits
ready for the rear wing to be fitted (when it turns up )
fuel tank all ready to go back, 1 coat of underseal, 2 coats of stoneguard and 2 coats of black gloss
all the underneath is complete, undersealed and 2 coats of stoneguard
with all the wheels back on now I can get it out of the garage on sunny days and get it prepped for spraying.
