Default RSricRS- Red s2 rebuild - THE FINISH LINES IN SIGHT !!!!!!pg9

ok folks i m creating this restoration thread on behalf of the owner rick ,

its not that hes a retard and cant do it himself , its just with his work commitments and the fact he lives in nottinghamshire . well lets say he cant exactly just pop in

so here goes , im sure rick will fill in the gaps in the story ,

car came two blue oval two years ago ,ric had recently purchased the car after always wanting a rs turbo , the car was a low milage d plater , and on first appearace a soild clean car , rick wasnt 100 % happy with the car and decided a repaint was on the cards ,

so after a chat with jacko it was deliverd ,

as many of you know looks can be very very deciving , and what was expected to be a fairly easy task , turned in to every owners worst nightmare ,the dreaded rot had really taken hold , and the car was in really bad shape , but never one to shy away from a challenge jacko persisted and draughted in a good friend and long time rs owner karl graham who himself is a top welder, fabricator, and mechanic and between them they tackled all the problems the rs had in store , through the ups and downs of trying to build a business , unexpected delays , and a few other problems on the way including a move of premises ! the car is now on the home straight

so here is the car , as it currently stands , the underside has just been painted , the front panel has been stripped of paint bk to bare metal for best finish possible , areas which needed to be have had filler added and sanded ,

after the floor was painted

the pictures really dont do the quality justice

anyway the plans for the car are completely standard looking exterior and interior , even down to the standard alloys ,

however the running gear will be koni suspension ,cosworth front brakes , rear disc conversion , poly bushes all round

the engine spec is

2 ltr zvh
standard crank and rods ( possibly upgrading to steel rods)
accralite low comp pistons
uprated headgasket ,
cvh cylinder head mild port and polished uprated valves
piper cam kit with vernier pulley ( poss upgrade to newman cam)
rs turbo manifold with t34 turbo .63 housing
efi port matched inlet
cosworth management
cts stage two gearbox with b&m quickshift kit
uprated hoses ,pace rad and intercooler , oil cooler ,ect ect

ill get some more pictures of the car tomorrow and possibly of the engine ,

im sure jacko will post a few pic of the car from eairler stages in the resto ,

this thread will follow the car though paint and the rest of the rebuild ,

hope you enjoy ,

beefy

top project beefy, I see you going for the 2.0 instead of the 2.1, wise choice, give it a go with the standard cam in it before you buy the piper, you may be supprised

Will keep an eye on this one

raj

this isnt my project fella im simply creating the thread for the owner ,

the 2.0 is more than enough for what rick needs and personally unless your going for huge power 2.1 isnt really nessacary

the pipers already purchased , the engines alrady built mate ,

dont nessacairly have to do it white mulla ??

what about a satin black , pale grey ect etc ,

saying that , as long as you keep on top of it , its not that difficult ,

i use to use my s2 daily and as the running gear was powdercoated it was just a quick wipe clean ,

lol you both better get used to taking more than half hour to wash your car ,

lol , keep a full saturday free lol

The work whats being done on the car is amazing the restored parts look new, the whole car will be like new but with 230bhp and torque to match hopefully and looking completely original even down to the header tanks etc, if anyone has any original s2 parts (interior, engine bay parts etc etc please drop me a pm.

Ric.
