Default RS2000 I4 Engine Transplant

Last week the timing belt went on my 1.8D Escort van. Now to remedy this circumstance, I have the chance of an RS2000 I4 engine which I would love to drop into my van.

Has anybody done anything similar and could maybe give me some pointers as to whether this would be a nightmare to do or not and what parts I would need?

Would I get away with the diesel gearbox, driveshafts, etc...?

Cheers
Scott

What I have available is the engine, ecu, loom, starter, alternator and clutch.

I would get a fuel tank too. What would I have to do by way of fuel pump, going from diesel to petrol?

I am wondering whether the diesel box will mate with the engine and if I can get away with what is already there and upgrade as i go.

What was it you converted from?

Cheers

Cheers mate, that is a help.

Think i'll go for it, do as much as I can until it's finished or something is needed... Brakes would be on the agenda big time!!! Just want the thing running first, it is doing me no favours being off of the road just now but when offered this engine I couldn't say no.

Was just having a look at JD's website too, could be very handy in my wee project.

Only thing i'm worried about is loom/wiring, I hate wires. See how it goes though...
